Are there that many taking those expensive drugs to drive up the costs significantly? I can justify some increase in premiums to justify better coverage but not 10x more. Another channel has been suggesting that Part D drug plans may cost over $100 a month

It isn't necessarily the cost of drugs, but the spending on a lot of these plans in general. The companies who offer Part D plans also offer Medicare Advantage, and haven't seem to make the profit margins they anticipated.

Hi Keith - I am with Aetna Silver script. All good. Never use it as the deductible is not worth it. However, as luck would have it, if I got a cold once a year it was odd. So, lo and behold, I get cancer! Stuck with a plan that is not conducive to cancer. My question to you is: the upcoming enrollment period - what would you suggest for a Plan D for serious cancer? I had gone with your group from the beginning as you are imo the most informative person on Medicare etc. Thanks, Jak

Hi Jak- yes Silver Script is usually a great plan if you take zero or low level medications. With your diagnosis now, it is going to be based on where your medications fall on the tier levels. The new plans for 2025 will begin showing on Medicare.gov on OCT 1st, which is when we will get the best idea of which plans cover what drugs best. Luckily, I think the $2,000 Part D cap will be good for your medications if they are pricey.
