Thank you so much for doing this video, you are very good at what you do! I'm FEHB(high-option GEHA), which offers a Medicare Advantage plan through United Healthcare...no copays or deductibles, except a few small ones on prescriptions. Also, $100 give back towards medicare (making it $74.50 a month). No complaints this year with this set-up. I may compare GEHA to BCBS basic, especially if FEHB premiums go up.

That is fantastic, glad that we can help!

The BCBS premium has increased incredibly more than other plans

How does TriCare for Life affect this. Lots of military retirees go federal and have FEHB as primary with tri care secondary until age 65.

Called BCBS excitedly bc I thought I was eligible for $800! Whoohoo! However if you are on the plan that is the higher option (I am)…..you will not be eligible for the $800. That’s what Keisha at BCBS told me today.
@TheChancesmom14 күн бұрын
That’s right you have to be on the basic plan.

Heard others say you only get the $800 credit from BCBS If enrolled in the basic plan. Besides the credit issue, do the advantage plans also work the same way with the BCBS Standard plan ?
@MedicareSchool2 күн бұрын
Yes, they work the same as those plans.
@janehaefner9438Ай бұрын
How do people get the $800 credit from BCBS? Is it cash? Is it reduction of premium? I don’t know how to access this.
@ggjr61Ай бұрын
The $800 is for BCBS basic if you have both Medicare A&B. I think they explain how it works on the FEP BCBS site. If you can’t find it call the BCBS number on your card.
@MedicareSchoolАй бұрын
It's usually a reduction in your Part B premium (if you are already collecting SS). If you aren't collecting then it's given to you as a credit like on a spending card usually.

@@MedicareSchool thank you I will check it out. Your videos have been very helpful in navigating the complexities of Medicare.

I have BCBS and you have to request your 800$ filling their form with proof 1099 SS proof of premium B payment

Frankly the there are only two advantages to FEHB over Medicare with a supplement and part D. One is the international coverage if you plan on living out of the country. Two there are more extensive drug formularies on many of the FEHB plans than on most part D plans.

Is a FEHB advantage plan better than the outside advantage plan like services denied?
@junebeach634128 күн бұрын
@carmenanico2786 I had several services requested this year, one a hospital 1 day procedure stay based service, no denials for 2024. A heart ablation took one day at the hospital, no copays or deductibles on my part. GEHA High/M.A. (United Healthcare). DME paid 100% required approval and purchase thru an approved DME company not a drug store.

You may have better chances at getting services covered, those plans usually have a larger networks and more flexibility compared to the typical advantage plans.

The OPM form RI79-9 on the OPM website isn't exactly like the one this video shows. Where did you get the updated form for 2025?
@joegarrett5221Ай бұрын
I am retiring at the end of this year and this is the RI79-9 I used. My retirement representative verified that the 'Revised August 2014' version is current. www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/ri79-9.pdf

What would be the options if I have TriCare and the VA , then at 65 it would be TriCare for Life and the VA for myself. my wife will only have TriCare for Life, I have the option on getting FEHB but don't have it yet. I want to get FEHB before I retired from federal service. I am military retired and went federal, what option will I have?
@MedicareSchoolАй бұрын
It would essentially look about the same as far for plans. Here is another video we have about VA and Tricare recipients kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHu8kqiLn52Ajbc
