What about an older domestic partner who has just turned 65 and is currently covered by her working partner’s employer plan of well over20 employees? I was told SS doesn’t recognize domestic partners so I will have to sign up for Medicare parts A and B. True? But when should I sign up for medigap plan? I do have a serous medical condition as well so I want to avoid underwriting questions. I wanted to stay on my partner’s employer coverage but am worried about underwriting issue and if SS doesn’t recognize domestic partners for parts A and B coverage, will they also not recognize partnership status for medigap coverage if I would wait until afterSEP so as to keep my partner’s employer coverage?

For this they will view it as credible if you all have the appropriate paperwork stating you are domestic partners. But if it's not on legal documentation then no. If you do have to sign up for Medicare, you will want to get a supplement plan with in the first 6 months of you starting. But keep in mind you'll need Part D as well, that has to be added on at least 63 days after your Part B started so you aren't penalized.

Where we live two of the major hospital/clinic systems won’t accept Humana and Cigna isn’t in our market at all. Of course Cigna doesn’t matter since they’re leaving the Medicare business anyway.

Short and sweet advice from Marvin. Now a person has a lot of research 🧐 to do. I’d like to work longer and I will but only 2 six hour days. A five/6 day work week will be history. All the best to the last of the Boomers and IK some use Generation Jones.

Nice job in presenting the data. (It would be very helpful if the system would lightly highlight the section you're talking about as you discuss it. I spent most of the time trying to locate where you were and missed the rapid-fire details.) My retirement company transferred me from my Cigna Medicare/supplemental plan to a Humana Medical Advantage PPO plan. Thankfully I only have two doctors outside the plan but it is very tedious and involved to get the required hard data from the doctors and then MAIL it in!! I'm in New York City and think I will go back to Medicare/supplemental plan.. with either Cigna or Humana.

Thank you so much for sharing this information. It is a blessing for all of us . However , I do have one question ? Suppose you have a person who Continues to work between the ages of 65 -67 and does not choose to use Medicare ,but for some unforeseen reason they get laid off , have they missed all of their Medicare enrollment opportunities? How would that work?

My sister was on United Healthcare cobra before she retired, then picked United Healthcare as her Medicare supplement. Big mistake, her medical billings are hopelessly screwed up. Had surgery just before going on Medicare so related medical events cross over, a big paperwork mess.

Does it matter how old my spouse is if we have insurance where she works for a company with over 20 employees and we like the insurance coverage does it matter how old she is until she’s 65 she is 57 and I am 60 so I’ll turn 65 three years before she does

I am not going to take Medicare until 66, I have an HSA I want to continue with and also my wife is on my insurance and is a year younger, so waiting until she is 65. I know I have to stop contributing 6 months prior to going on Medicare. My question is from January 1 to June 30 can I max out my contribution ($9,300) before I have to stop?

One in three people will get cancer in their lifetime. This is a statistical fact. Having been in the medical field all my life, I would NEVER choose advantage plans. Advantage plans are notorious for not approving treatment, one may not able to go anywhere where they specialize in their particular disease, such as Mayo, MD Anderson, Sloan Kettering etc. without going thru massive time consuming pre-auth etc. The advantage plans are being pushed because insurance companies are a billion dollar industry. Medicare and supplemental plan is the best for most people.

Gosh here I am 65 still working, not drawing social security yet, not on Medicare yet and have BCBS Insurance with my company which is basically an Advantage Plan in my opinion. Never used it much, but being younger and healthy never really needed it. But if we make it to the so called "Golden" Years many of us will need better insurance in my opinion. These Advantage plans offer all these perks but that doesn't help me if I have a $100,000 bill so it is the Supplement plan for me. Great Video!

I pay $229 soon to be raised to $265 per month plan G on United Healthcare. Thinking about changing to Plan N before my initial 6 month window. Please help us high premium paying seniors❤

his videos are helpful to sort through but clear he is getting much better commissions for selling Medigap G plans - I'm 65 in perfect health and my G premium is almost double of his examples (in North Florida) ... going 'G' for sure but with eyes wide open - as with any good insurance coverage I know I am paying a healthy premium (no pun intended) and probably won't need it - AND - I am subsidizing all the people who don't take care of themselves since there is no benefit in signing up for a G plan for being in perfect health (touch wood) other than the "are u a smoker" question - no penalty for weighing 4 bills for instance

What is the proper time to take social security? It depends on your entire life situation. Social security is only a part of the picture. If you are in good health and can work a few more years, you can delay. If you have three million dollars of investment, you can afford to take it early and enjoy life more. If your profession is very physically demanding, you may not have a choice; you cannot do the job at 62 any more. Everyone needs to think for himself/herself. Nobody knows your full picture.

Marvin, I have been working with one of your agents on selecting a Medicare supplement plan. They said Human and Cigna are not as stable as Aetna. In this video your saying that Human and Cigna are stable. Can you please clarify?
@MedicareSchool
@MedicareSchool 10 сағат бұрын
The purpose of these videos is to help those who have minimal options. In some places not every carrier is offered so it may be that they only have the option of Humana and Cigna. We do have other carriers that are more stable vs. these. But we make these videos to help everyone weigh out there options appropriately.

HCSC, which runs BCBS in Texas and several other states, is buying the business. They know how to run medicare plans. I don't think HCSC is buying it just to shut it all down.

You didn't mention that you have to purchase a part d plan for in addition to the a and b. Also if Medicare will not pay for a particular medical care the supplement doesn't recognize it and will also not pay, which includes hearing aids, dental and vision
