I told my doc back year ago Gabapentin was making me gain weight and want to eat like I was starving. She told me she'd never heard of such a thing and basically acted like I was crazy. I stopped taking them anyway and figured out another way to deal.

ryan Jones This is why I get so irritated when people criticize people for mentioning donations. He doesn't have to do this. He's making good health information available to those of us who can't afford seminars, and it's ridiculous to think he should be obligated to do so for free.

I have been sharing your videos with my family and friends who have been criticizing me for changing how I eat. They still believe in the “eat what you want in moderation” way of eating. Well, I tried that way and gained 40 pounds in about 1.5 years after menopause. Switched to a “lazy keto” diet (I don’t count macros) and have been steady losing weight since February 2018 and I only have 15 pounds to drop! And I feel amazing. I use your tips and suggestions and it’s very helpful

In 2007, I lost 25 pounds in 3 months! At that time, I was working in a hospital in the ER and I had doctors coming up to me asking if I had had bariatric surgery. Nope! All I had done was what any nutritionist would suggest. Increased my water intake exorbitantly...decreased my eating by half...ate proteins, veggies, and had fruit for dessert instead of empty calories. I was 39 and my body had the textbook response you can read in any medical health journals. Coupled with all of that, I exercised EVERY DAY by riding my bike in the Texas Summer heat and I loved it! I loved the feeling of sweat pouring off of me! I felt all of these toxins just leaving! I used a Camelbak for water intake so I wouldn’t pass out due to heat stroke because we all know Texas has brutal Summer weather! Fast track to today. I got out of that routine, unfortunately, and gained it all back. However, I am now going to the gym and exercising again. I love it! My only gripe is my lower back feels like it’s fused it’s so stiff! I stretch and my daughter is teaching me dance stretches. I’m slowly getting my flexible, but only because I’m losing weight around my midsection. I’ll probably just get a massage. You presenting all of this free medical advice is phenomenal and I appreciate you so much!!

Thank you for sharing. I’ve been on seroquel for 6 months now and have ballooned from 175 to 275 lbs! None of my clothes fit and now I have high blood pressure and am prediabetic. The worst part has been where I’ve gained most of the weight (my belly), I’ve gone from a size 32 to a size 44 because of the weight gain. I’m only 19 so I never expected I’d gain any weight, let alone 100 lbs.

Hey Dr. Berry, My migraines became unbearable. My doctor put me back on amitriptyline and I gained 32 lbs. In addition, I was having serious problems with the side effects. Both my primary doctor and neurologist were not very helpful and my wife insisted I seek second opinions. About a month before visiting my new neurologist, I went back onto Atkins. I used to be able to drop weight very quickly but was only able to drop 10 lbs over the month. After visiting my new neurologist and going on a new medication for my migraines (with no weight gain issues), I went on carnivore diet after seeing several videos by you, Dr. Baker and Dr. Saladino. I am now down a total of 32. I am also normally fasting 16-18 hours a day and my symptoms are getting better. My skin and teeth are better. Although I still have migraine symptoms, I have had some great results. I am looking forward to the next couple of months as I loose more weight and looked forward to my new blood panels.

I'm so thankful for this video and Dr. Berry being straight with us about these medications that do cause weight gain. I would like to add a medication to the list that caused me to gain a huge amount of weight. In the anti-seizure list, I would like to see Depakote added to the medications. Like Dr. Berry mentioned, it is prescribed for a wide variety of problems beside seizure like migraines, mania in bipolar and other problems. When I first started taking it, a friend warned me that it caused her to gain 60 pounds but I felt so good on it I took it anyway. Well, I ended up gaining 70 pounds and have struggled to stay out of that much larger weight class ever since, and that was 16 years ago. Please do yourself a favor and avoid taking this med at all cost. Thanks.

Finally got around to watching this video. I'm a big follower of yours, Dr Berry and send a lot of your videos to my friends (mostly my fellow nurse pals that are also doing a keto journey.) I was curious if you have any experience with patients that have been on antidepressants for an extended period of time? I know my Zoloft has to be a contributor to my weight gain over the years, I've been on it for 10+ years and I would like to come off of it but I don't even know what I'd be like OFF of it! I plan on seeing my doctor soon and discussing tapering off or alternatives as I've suffered with clinical depression and anxiety since my teen years. Does trazadone or other prescibed sleep aids also cause weight gain? Thank you so much for all of your videos. As a bedside nurse, I look forward to seeing how we treat patients in the future is going to change!

Oh my gosh Dr Berry, I'm a 61yr old woman and I've been doing keto for 5 weeks and have lost 1lb. I track my macros, do IF and have been doing really well, but the scale isn't moving! Im ready to give up! Im so glad I watched this video! I've been watching your videos for about 2 weeks and have subscribed. Time do see my Dr.? I was shocked to learn about the medications. I was pretty certain my antidepressant caused weight gain but all the others, wow. I am on Venlafaxine and didn't hear you mention it, but I'm also on; Propanalol, Hydroxizine, Gabapentin, Atorvastatin, and Hydrocodone. My stress level just went up! Also, I have been on most of them for years. By the way; I'm 5'6" and 221lbs. Any advice would be appreciated!

Extremely helpful. God bless you, Dr Berry. Keto quit working for me for no reason. I lost about 40 pounds easily and then NOTHING. Stayed strict keto for 4 more months with no loss in weight. 20 to 24 carbs per day. No sugar, no dairy, no grains, no fruit. Only meat and keto approved veggies. Also I did this while intermittent fasting 2 meals per day within a 4 hour period. Weight loss stopped completely. I gave up. I'm 70 years old and just gave up. All debug attempts did NOTHING. Now LISTENING TO THIS VIDEO, I realize that I started TAKING A LOT OF IBUPROFEN DAILY FOR MONTHS. I think that's when the weight loss stopped. WOW!!!! NO MORE IBUPROFEN FOR ME. Thank you so much , Dr Berry. I've been listening to you for years. You're my "go to" for sane and healthy solutions that WORK for me and for others. God Bless YOU, and NEISHA, and your children. 😊

Started off with being diagnosed with a type 1 diabetes since i was diagnosed at the age of 12, then i fell sick and met other doctors then they said i am a type 2 diabetic. They started me off with metformin but ended up giving me insulin since my sugar level was very bad and since i started insulin my weight just wont budge off. Parents thought i have not been eating or exercising correctly but i think its mainly my medications. Been on different diets and ketogenic diet suits me the most. No more hunger. Hopefully weight loss comes in too!

Dr Berry, this comment needs an answer please! Thank you so MUCH for this video, I started a Keto diet Jan 4th and have stuck to it religiously... I am 69 yr old (37.7 BMI), lost about 10 lbs the first two weeks, then plateaued for the next 6 weeks (yes, 42 days) losing only another couple pounds. Found this video and whala, two of my 4 meds were on your list. Went to my doctor with the information you gave me, got my Pioglitazone 30 MG changed to Metformin and I believe this had a big impact on my losing weight... it took a week for it to leave my system, and the next 11 days I lost 10 lbs, then have dropped another 5 lbs the next two week and I am continually going down. The second one on your list that I am taking is Metoprolol Tartrate 50 MG (1/2 tablet, 2 times a day, he did not offer a substitute for this one, and you did not say in the video that there was one. My doctor did not change this one, so I am still taking it.... Is there an alternative for this med? You and Keto have been the best thing for me, my blood glucose readings now average around 85, and for the last 10 yrs they averaged around 113... I had never seen a reading below 100 until I started Keto... and now even 1.5 to 2 hrs after eating the readings are back below 100. This is so awesome to see this kind of results, I only wished I had know about this years ago... finally getting my health and life back.... thanks so much.... Larry ps... with Keto my hunger never comes around, I must make myself eat. So I have been doing the OMAD and loving it.

I was on 180 tablets of 30mg percocet for chronic pain (Fibromyalgia,Cancer, many broken bones etc. etc. Hard military career) every month and have quit ALL of them in 2010 after daily use for 8 years. I changed my diet to Keto, got rid of 100% of my processed or refined sugar. I was at my heaviest 124kg and I am only 176cm in height. I very rarely need to take any medications now and I'm 52. I am almost back to my military weight and people constantly guess me at 35-40 years old. I moved OUT of the U.S. to S.E. Asia and am amazed at the completely healthy food. Now I eat healthy foods, I love leafy greens, protein and fat. Never felt better, never! Even the 'healthy' food in the U.S. is contaminated with sugars and hormones. I think one must be extremely choosy of what they consume in a Western diet. If I feel that my joints are inflamed or have a lot of pain, I simply make chicken or pork with garlic and turmeric (lots of turmeric) and some spinach or other greens. Sorts me right out. Been watching your videos for a bit Dr. Berry (and others in the field) and they are very helpful. Thank you for what you do to help educate people.

I had a rhizotomy and MVD which took some of the pressure off of my damaged nerve, but I was able to cut way back on gabapentin, which I hope will be eliminated for good, soon. I am losing inches and am just now, medically cleared to exercise. Thank you, for your videos.

Please do a video on statin drugs. And maybe one on how to go about finding a doctor like you. Google maps says it’s an 8-hour drive to your office for me, so that seems to be impractical. My new doctor, who was recommended by a friend, just doubled my statin dose and told me to eat a low-fat and low-cholesterol diet. This was after I told her that I had been reading all kinds of books about the downside of statin drugs, including memory loss, and that they don’t seem to decrease death rates from heart problems. I have been having lots of memory and word-finding problems and I’m still in my 60s. Help!

That "low fat and low cholesterol diet" is old school. I would fire that quack and watch Dr. Berry's stuff about the keto diet. Old school nutrition prescriptions were guaranteed to create fat people. I also like Dr. Eric Berg on KZbin.

I'm 61 and started research on the Ketogenic program in January of 2017. I was 60 then. I started the program in March of 2017. I started seeing videos on statin drugs on KZbin and I started watching them. I was horrified. I'd been on statin drugs since my late 30's, I think. I threw my Lipitor (statin) in the trash. My cholesterol and triglycerides have gone up a little bit and my doctor wants me back on the Lipitor. He said bluntly "You will have a heart attack or a stroke if you don't take the statin drug." I listened and went on my way. Nope, I'm not going to take them. As we age, we need this extra cholesterol for our brains in order to prevent dementia/Alzheimer's. My Dad died April 7th, 2018, from dementia/Alzheimer's after 5 yrs. of decline. My Grand-father, his Dad, also died of dementia/Alzheimer's. My Dad was so, so health conscience but unfortunately, he never knew about Keto and neither did my Grand-father. It makes me so sad. But I choose not to follow their fate and to stay on Keto the rest of my life. I had a lot of memory loss and word-finding problems and it's all clearing. Amazing! I've lost 46 lbs., lost my Type 2 diabetes in less than 3 months, no more hot flashes, my panic attacks when I used to drive have stopped, my high blood pressure is gone, my skin is so much clearer, the puffiness in my face is gone, my bleeding ulcer is gone, no more Prilosec and I never have indigestion or reflux. The only problem I have is with salad dressing. I can't find one bottled that doesn't have soy oil and I don't know what to use that I like. I eat huge salads so I need to like the salad dressing. I resorted back to using a little Ranch salad dressing and I know this is wrong. Lastly, I love shrimp but I need cocktail sauce. I can't find a recipe to make that doesn't have sugar in it to use?? I hope someone has a suggestion. So my suggestion is to get rid of the statin drug, stick to Keto and what Dr. Berry says and you'll do fine! I'm going to look now and see if Dr. Berry has his video on the statin drugs yet!!

Wow. So glad I’ve watched this video. I started putting weight on few years ago and have tried everything to lose weight but couldn’t even lose 1 pound even though I only eat about 1400 cals a day (although I’ve switched to keto since Jan). I’ve seen doctors, dietician, endocrinologist, even paid to see a professor in endocrinology and got no answers. Has lots of tests to rule things out including ruling out Cushings. All the professionals were given a list of symptoms, diet and medication. Recently found a thread on a forum about the side effects of citalopram which I have been on for 3 and a half years. So many others having the same issues as me. So I started tapering off the drug 5 weeks ago. I’ve also been taking propranolol and naproxen for around 4 years! Omg no wonder I’m in this mess. I’ve recently been trying cbd oil to help with nerve pain and anxiety so I’m now going to replace both these other drugs with cbd and get off all 3. I’ve literally been driven to despair over all this and may possibly have my answers now. I can’t thank you enough Dr B.

Kaye Szymanski....I have also wondered about that since I have severe allergies and have taken Flonase and Azelastine. I asked my pharmacist about it a few months ago and was told that even though Flonase is a corticosteroid, it isn't the same as a steroid pill like Prednisone or Prednisolone which is considered to have a systemic effect( all over the body) since it is taken intranasally which doesn't have a systemic effect.

Firstly, thank you for the great videos. Question: I went keto and intermittent fasting a while back and dropped 30 lbs so far. My mother hears about these results and would like to get on the keto diet, and possibly IF later on. She’s 71 years old and on medication for high blood pressure and has been on a Western diet. I asked her to talk to her doctor before changing her diet; but, are there any more specific things for her to ask or look out for? Thank you!

Another thing Dr. Berry is I’d like you to look into your good sources about caffeine tolerance relating to Adenosine and how becoming tolerant and dependent of caffeine affects mood, baseline energy, lack of rest etc. also next someone made a point to me about seeds are inflammatory and is coffee not a seed that may have the same potential causing the very last bit of sneaky inflammation in the gut as mine bloats up a good bit. I love coffee to death but I’m down to 1 cup a day and soon to none for my own experiment.
