I have been eating russian olives every day for 3 years now. I harvest this week each year and dry the fruit for use over a year-long period. When i need them, i use a mortar and pestle to grind. The powder tastes like candy. One thing that isn'tt mentioned in this video is that russian olives have muscle relaxing qualities and also are INCREDIBLE anti inflammatories. I haven't taken ibuprofin in 3 years. That is no exaggeration. This is a miracle plant that flies completely under the radar. The berries of the species on my property only get dark green and maybe a little yellowish. Mine dont get red. I am going to start drying the leaves as well. I am so happy i can use these as well because i usually throw them away as i strip berries from the branch. If i ever run out, i purchase silverberries from Grand turkish bazzar, and they are 4 times as big, and they are red. Here's to our health. PS, the fellow who stars in this video, is a genius. He's absolutely brilliant. Thank you for posting this

It is called Sanjed(in Iran) Lotus tree's fruit aka Silver berry or Oleaster fruit or Russian olive. The fruit of the sanjed tree has significant medicinal value and has been mentioned in ancient texts, including the Bible. Different regions may have variations in the shape, taste, and flavor of the fruit

So interesting! Thank you for sharing this information. I have several Russian Olive trees but I have never seen the berries turn color here in Canada. Could it be a different variety? I would like to dry the leaves for tea if they have the same health benefits.

I am curious, with the red berries, isn't that an autumn olive? The Russian olive stay greenish gold if I'm not mistaken.

Is it too late to pick the leaves to dry for tea right now? It is Sept. 29 today.

The leaves are great for harvest during this time when the berries are ripe. (Red)

@@windrivergrowourown3079 Are there two different types of Russian Olive tree? I have berries on my trees but I don't think they turn red...maybe yellow but I don't think they change to red. (Ok, I just watched this video again and it answered that question.) If they do they are not ripe very long...a couple weeks or so. Is that normal for that length of time? Also, could you recommend a book that talks more about this tree? I would like to cross reference info I took notes on but I am not able to find much info in the way of books or studies as a pdf or book form. Thanks for your help. Hugs.

Who cares about a title of Dr? Truth from a citizen is just as valuable as truth from a "Dr" right?
