Why we have to look for digoxin toxicity in hypercalcemic patient,,,, if digoxin lead to hypoCa!!!?
@MedicosisPerfectionalis4 жыл бұрын
Because hypercalcemia will stimulate digoxin to work more- in order to cause hypocalcemia. As a result, digoxin will cause more arrhythmia, more hyperkalemia, and more symptoms of digoxin toxicity. Does that make sense?

Why does hypercalcemia produce constipation? I am trying to find the answer on the internet but I am not succeeding. Help!
@sandeeipsapkota82009 ай бұрын
The answer is there in video, it's like contra excitability, neuromuscular resistance due to high calcium

why hypocalcemia ⬆️excitabilty 🤔
@alexwallace2937 Жыл бұрын
Hypocalcemia means less acetylcholine is released from nerve cells- muscles cells compensate for lack of acetylcholine by producing more cell surface channels- more cell surface channels means more sodium influx- more sodium influx raises resting membrane potential which leads to Inc excitability, I think this is how it works

No,calcium stabilizes or inhibit frequent depolarization by regulating Na chanel by binding with it..thus stops Na channel to open. When they are low Na channel easily opens and depolarization occurs..

Hypercalcaemia, increase the threshold for resting membrane potential hence decreased neuromuscular excitability
