What a wonderfull idea, to make such a kind of Art/Science Fair! I was at many medieval markets. There are opportunities for them all over here in Germany. But I've lost interest in them long ago, because of all the tourists, the cheap made souvenirs and the immense shallowness. But this video, this fair... there is deepness in the creation, passion.

This does make me wish I was over on the Left Coast. I'm a Midrealmer. Signed, taking a mundane cartoon drawing course so that my dysgraphic self can draw the Gaston Phoebus Book of the Hunt-style illuminations that I want to do. The SCA also taught me to spin, ply yarn, do fingerloop braiding, and cook and serve a six course feast for 150 of my closest friends.

I just saw this and your SCA camping vlog today and was reminded of a day in college: the decorating committee for the local SCA group came to me in a panic because they wanted a marble pillar upon which to place the royal goblet but only had a white plaster replica. So, I started painting it, and soon, it became the focus of a pre-event painting party as friends joined in to help. When we were done, others thought the pillar was marble. :)

I'm very interested in the dress you wore to this event--is the combination of plaid and solid like that (divided vertically, I mean) your own original idea, or do you know of any extant garments or paintings or such that show that way of combining fabrics? I love the look, and I actually acquired two big pieces of fabric recently, a plaid and a solid, in coordinating shades of blue, and I was thinking of making a kirtle of them.... Any historical references? just curious...if it's historical, I might do it, but if it's your own idea I really don't want to just copy you, you know? Feels like plagiarism....
