In early 60's ,when i was a little child,i used to sleep in a bed in a box,in my grandma's Transylvanian village.It was a special bed,built by the german saxon carpenters from the neighboring village.Also it had a straw mattress.Those years in the village were the closest thing to Paradise.

Did you see the recent video from Lindybeige about medieval beds? Apparently because beds were such a status symbol back then, carrying it with you on travels was a normal thing when you were rich. so foldable beds were a common thing!

Would love to get a pattern to make this bed in a box! Looks so nice & I love that it doubles as a bench when bed is not in use! Perfect for when you get overnight guests unexpectedly.

You should build one..... and let me know how you solve the handle. I changed it from the one I saw pictures of but it could still use improvement.
@DrTheRich8 жыл бұрын
why didn't that one work?
@DrawbridgeProps8 жыл бұрын
I don't like that the handle pin is removable. It is something that could get lost. I wanted to use the handles that I bought but couldn't figure out a good way to make them stay attached all the time.

How well would this do on uneven ground? The park where our festival is set up has pretty uneven ground.
@DrawbridgeProps4 жыл бұрын
I often go out of my way to setup on as flat a site as possible. The bed inherently has a bit of flexibility as the side rails are slide together but If you’re camping on rough terrain it might a good idea to travel with some wooden wedges in the bed to even out any holes in the ground etc.

Really nice work ;) how much does it weigh when the bed is stored inside the box?
@DrawbridgeFinance8 жыл бұрын
I've never weighed it specifically. My girlfriend and move it fairly easily so I would say 90-110 lbs. It is hard for one person to pick up only because of it's size.

What size mattress fits?
@DrawbridgeProps5 жыл бұрын
The plans are for a long double mattress 55” x 80” which is not a very common size for mattresses but is very accommodating for two self inflating air camping mattresses. It could easily be adjusted width wise to be a queen at 60” x 80”
