Speaking of that tune, I can't help but recognize a Christmas song in that. "What Child is this'" I think it's called.
@taylorgletscher2 жыл бұрын
@@Vikingr4Jesus5919 Yes, many christian songs used popular tunes from the time they were written. "What child is this" has the best lyrics for this melody in my opinion, they fit so well.
@Vikingr4Jesus59192 жыл бұрын
@@taylorgletscher They do rather! And I find the older Biblical hymns a lot nicer than many new ones. (Many new ones today don't even include Jesus or God in the lyrics, and they're supposedly "Christian". I mean, does that add up in your book? It doesn't in mine!)
@taylorgletscher2 жыл бұрын
@@Vikingr4Jesus5919 Unfortunately, many songs today are made in order to please the people instead of praising god, to apeal to emotion instead of presenting reasonable service. It's like some songwriters are going in the inverse way of what was done to this music, I mean, the original lyrics were not religious at all, and they selected such a great melody to write such good christian lyrics, but today some refrain from using good music only because it was made by non crhistians, whereas others, as you said, simply make folk/pop music and label it as worship.

Is the first song Not "What Child Is This"
@HyggeHearth2 жыл бұрын
Found this on good old Wikipedia: What Child Is This?" is a Christmas carol with lyrics written by William Chatterton Dix in 1865 and set to the tune of "Greensleeves", a traditional English folk song, in 1871. Although written in Great Britain, the carol today is more popular in the United States than its country of origin.[1] I learned something today
