I like the challenge aspect when watching. But playing is a different thing. When i played, we all have our ways, i used lots of artillery, but i think you can do this.

So I did some research and it turns out, that if you're losing (And Egypt is losing badly) every ten turns (Or of you lose your capitol) you can call for reinforcements up ti five times. That's why they always had a new army. Also Saladin and the Turks get two fullstacks on Turn 2 when they called for a Jihad an event. So they've always had a troop advantage over you. But if what I read is right, this should be their last and final wave. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel Duke. The reason you didn't see it when you researched it is becaue it's not just Egyptian. It's a feature for all five starting factions. Which is why, when they lost Constantinople, the Byzantines materialised a top-tier army to take it right back. Mind you this is all I read. The event about the Hashah fortress surrendering is flavour text. It happened a little ways east of the mapborder, s don't sweat it. I guess we just have to hope the Mongols either hit your allies, the Turks, or just float around, wasting time. They did a lot of that last time. I really hate how the Mamluks join the Egyptians. They're nestled safely in the corner like the Byzantines. But they also have an ally in the region and have zero threats to their rear, unlike the Byzantines. They're veryclearly the "easy mode" for the Crusades expansion, like how Spain is for the Americas.

That is very interesting! I could not find anything on this so that is some exceptional detective work. The initial Jihad made sense but I couldn't fathom where the additional armies were coming from - if its available to the player as well though I can see that being a little more fair than the AI getting free stacks when in a pinch! Must keep pushing a little further it seems. Interesting on the event too, I wondered if the Mongols had taken somewhere physically on the map a la Venice taking Constantinople. I have a feeling the Mongols will spawn in Baghdad, which should soften the Turks up for us ahead of our move east after the war with Egypt is over. I agree! I did see that they are typically a 'rebel' army if you are playing as the Egyptians, but instead here they become another free (and pretty elite!) army for them. I do feel you are right though that once these are dealt with we should be able to finally push through. I hope Antioch have had the same trouble with the Turks!

Petrichor (/ˈpɛtrɪkɔːr/ PET-ri-kor)[1] is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word was coined by Richard Grenfell Thomas from Ancient Greek πέτρα (pétra) 'rock' or πέτρος (pétros) 'stone' and ἰχώρ (ikhṓr), the ethereal fluid that is the blood of the gods in Greek. just a fact

Very interesting! I had no idea there was a name for it, may have to start using it in conversation to sound fancy.
