Good points all, I hope it doesn't lead to us needing to take Vienna as it is well fortified. And letting Hungary rebel is a good idea, or if there isn't time I may gift it to somebody else and wash my hands of it. And I agree on the port - I just keep forgetting! If only there was a conversion mechanic in this game like in Napoleon.

Good point, perhaps we were a little too close. This expansion is very effective at creating some bloody battles, even a bridge defence can be costly!

Yes I agree that the war with Britain needs to be as swift as possible, no chance of invading the mainland right now and all our energies are going towards Italy right now. Cuba will have to go but we may be able to snatch up some of the Caribbean islands in exchange...

@IronDukeGaming Definitely. And if you are able to take the Bahamas. You might get a two for one. And Britain may be easy to bargain with if they get Cuba. Spain is difficult faction to start. By 1700 the power houses were France and Britain. Spain controlled many territories. But wasn't a strong military power.

I'd definitely like to, I've never played any of the MTW2 expansions before so I'd like to try them out - and Lithuania would be a more niche faction to try out!

I'm of the same mind in the Caribbean, once we can defeat the military presence we should be able to collect all of Britain's territories in the region, then it will be time to try and get New Spain incorporated under the crown. A fair idea with the trade port, most likely the best solution! And once Italy falls, the Mediterranean should be mostly ours and our trade allowed to reach Cartagena uninterrupted.

Exactly this, Florida can always be retaken but those cannons were too precious to sacrifice on a lost cause - better used fighting the British across the Caribbean! Better to take on the Cherokee once we have the bayonets, squares, canister and fire by rank all researched.

This is definitely the issue, and the smaller battlefields of RTW does mean they get cornered easily - time to bring out slow motion and micro-manage the entire army!

@IronDukeGaming To be honest, I have not had much success with horse archer based armies in BI. In vanilla they're grand, but there aren't as many temples that provide unit upgrades in BI and everyone and their brother is decked out in armor, so much so that arrows mostly just plink off of them. Foot archers are great against horse archers, but otherwise you really need heavy hitting AP melee weapons. Trying to micro 20 units of horse archers is a pain, especially considering how little they do against heavily armored enemies. It's generally better to just smash into them with heavy cav or infantry.
