Now that MediEvil Resurrection is coming to PS5 🎉 I can say that while both are different, I feel very happy that we have four MediEvil titles; we need to remember that Sony took A LOT to bring Sir Dan back. As a little kid, the oldest entry scared me to death 😂 (I was 3 y.o.), but it captivated me in a very strange way, I was kind of obsessed about it but to scared to play the original. However, when Resurrection came out, the aesthetic was way friendlier with the cartoony style. And I feel that at some degree that was Cambridge’s objective at the time, getting the attention from kids. Now I do hope that one day we get a MediEvil 2 remake 😢.

The PSP controls felt very smooth and the camera controls are so good compared to the original ps1 version. I loved the updated hall of heroes too

The PSP game felt far more fleshed out and the characters weren't as shallow. Maybe it was impressive on the Ps1 but remaking the original identically on Ps4 didn't do the franchise any favors. I think the PSP version is by far the superior remake. We might not get another Medievil game anymore which is sad.

The psp version is still the best one. It's dialogue was so funny and colorful. I love the cartoon feel the psp had, yet they can still make it felt creepy too.

Resurrection PSP remake was better! Although the 2019 remake was just a remaster of the original. Still waiting for Medievil 2 remake! 2 was the best in the series it had mummies in the museum, and that vampire mansions, Victorian zombies, Frankensteins, circus freaks! Waiting and praying that they remake the Medievil 2!

The original PS1 one is still the best one. The new games try to make it a cartoonish comedy when it was never a full blown comedy - It was mainly a Gothic dark fantasy game with some gallows humor thrown in for good measure.

Honestly I like the PS4 one better than Resurrection. Idk I just think that Resurrections added things to the game that just really where not needed all that much. I loved the original and grew up having both the game and an original Demo Disc for the game so the one to one remake for me is honestly better. Plus it certainly played and looked better. Honestly I doubt it's happening ever but I really wanna see a remake of Medievil 2

Resurrection is different from the ps1 and ps4 ver because its a remake not a remastered the ps4 ver is remastered so basically its just the first game but with hd graphics

Honestly the only real "downside" to Resurrection is the little genie guy that talks to Dan inside his skull the entire game. Take him away and I honestly prefer Resurrection's presentation much more.

Al zalam the genie and the poor framerate is what ruined resurrection's perfect remake in my opinion. The game should have been released for the PS2 as well. On a side note, i really hope Sony would consider remaking Medievil 2.

I feel like the PS4 remake has considerably worse FMVs, down to mostly poor camera direction and framing. Also strange lighting choices that don't do the tone much favour. At least the changes in the PSP remake could be chalked up to a deliberate stylistic shuffle (evident in its more lighthearted tone), but the PS4 one neither embelllishes the original it strives to respect, nor does anything interestingly new, leaving it awkwardly in the middle.

Just beat Medievil resurrection such a great game the thing I loved about it is it had that dark feel rayman 2 the great escape had I just really love dark games and manhunt 2 lol either way the psp and PS4 versions are both eerie as hell

That ps4 version is not good. Man it looks so different. They messed up the camera angles, they messed up the mechanics Sir Daniel. Sir Daniels' posture appears to much different and he appears somewhat smaller in comparison. That Hall of Heroes part of the game is completely botched. It looked like you were inside of a kingdom or a super expensive mansion in the sky. The ps4 looks like you are in a dusty rotten dungeon. Psp version knocked it out of the park. I'm actually playing it now.

I hated al zalam, I hated the whimsical tone and goofier tone of resurrection on the PSP, they butchered the combat, got rid of some of the best levels, glad medievil got a second chance with the PS4 remaster.

It feels to me a lot of commenters only played the PSP version and not the original PS1 version. Guys, do you know why Sony went for a remake of the ORIGINAL PS1 version and not the PSP one? Because that's what all the fans were asking for. Explicitly NOT a remake of resurrection. They wanted the PS1 experience with the OG team (they were actually taken on board as consultants). Now the quality of the ps4 remake is an entirely different debate. Clearly Other Ocean was not the right studio for this project and not enough money was put in it, marketing included. Look at how good and smooth the remakes of spyro and crash feel on ps4. Now look at Medievil PS4.... sigh But on the question of comparing the PSP version with the original ps1 version it is a complete no brainer. Play both games and you'll realize why.
