That look of gratitude and exhaustion mixed at 8:18 is a familiar look I have after big outings. About the only thing that could have made this traverse worse (besides having to back track) would have been getting an unwelcomed surprised by a rattlesnake. Cheers to those tough days in the mountains.

Some videos I laugh. Hard. This one worried me from the beginning when I saw the modest amount of water in your pack. I had to tell myself this is an old episode, so we know it will end ok. This episode I was at the opposite end of laughter. Worried. Really. Worried.

Yeah, it's all "very crumbly." But not like sand or dirt. It's like ground or chunky concrete. Man, I give you credit. That's an unbelievably tough run/hike. It's rough land, but one of my favorite places on earth.

I haven't checked this out myself, but I suspect that in some dictionaries, for the entry for "badass", there are no words, just a picture of Danny! Same for "beast" and, yeah, "attitude". (Can you imagine the teacher's reaction when he/she found Danny on his/her class list for the following year!?!) Great channel! Thanks for risking all for our entertainment! Like so many others, I can't understand why there aren't 10 times as many subscribers and views.

Danny do you have trail runners that you recommend? Ones that you've bought multiple times because they are great? I had to hike 26 miles in my Asolo GTX 95 boots last weekend because my normal low hikers decided to crease in a different spot causing a nice bone bruise on the top of my foot after a 32-mile training hike. Anyways, I'm in the market for some trail runners and can't imagine any tougher critic. Thanks for the awesome videos!
@MediocreAmateur6 жыл бұрын
These recommendations come with lots of caveats. My feet are blunt instruments. They are gnarled pieces of oak rather than delicate Waterford crystal. For years my choice of running shoes was based on what was available in the bargain bin. With that said. For straight up running on trails, I like the salomon sense ride. I used to have the Brooks cascadias as my everyday shoe but switched when the last model I ran on disintegrated too soon. For mixed routes like death valley or the purl I prefer la sportiva. I used the La Sportiva Mutants on this video and last year I wore out two pairs of the Mutants. I also burned through two pairs of the La Sportiva Bushidos last year on trail run/scrambles. I just bought a pair of Salewa ultra train which got reviewed as an all around mountain shoe with a slight edge on the off trail stuff. Last year I also wore out some Altra's, Hokas, and a handful of salomon models but none of them are worth mentioning here. If I were to pick a shoe for a 32 mile training hike I would probably go with a pair of La Sportiva's. The Mutant and Bushido aren't the best pure running shoe but they handle mixed terrain admirably. I might also try out a pair of the la sportiva Wildcats. They look more comfortable then the Mutants or Bushidos. I'll probably buy a pair this summer. I hope this helps. As a quick side note. Blake swears by the Saucony peregrine.
@michaelgirvine6 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the insight and I'll be sure to bitch and moan at you when your recommendations don't work for me. Seriously though, it's nice to know which shoes can hold up to the Mediocre Amateurs, because then if they work on my feet, they'll last through the abuse I put them through.
@duncare36016 жыл бұрын
@@MediocreAmateur Glad I am not the only person who noticed the Brooks line took a nosedive after they got rid of the Cascadia model. I'll have to check out the Salomon line sometime if Saucony doesn't work out.
