Superb. Escutando aqui em Porto Alegre, dia de chuva, trovões, emoldurados pelos relâmpagos criativos desse gênio + essa Big Bang primorosa. I❤Jazz

I just realized that this is the unannounced music I heard thirty years ago that blew me away late one night. I remember thinking how could somebody compose this without unpredictability and chaos. Magnificent.

It starts as a prayer. Mingus sets such a beautiful mood.

Sounds pretty bloody good to me. Wow. Some of my favourite recordings are crappy audio quality - including a phenomenal Clifford Brown/Max Roach concert and of course the famous Mingus, Powell, Roach, Parker, Gillespie ‘Massey Hall’ gig, recorded on Mingus’ tape deck next to his bass. It’s almost like the rawness of the performances deserve the rough sound quality, almost like you’ve made the bootleg yourself. It’ll never sound as good as a proper album, but the music is so worth hearing over and over again in its rough form.

Buddy Collette! Every bit the flautist that Dolphy was, with 1/10th the recognition.

It's a bit of a jumble but I have the original score which I am reading along with the recording. The recording with Eric Dolphy is 20 minutes. This of course is 24+ so I wil have to find out just where. the insert goes. Of course this is a much larger group.

I'd be interested to know what you discover, Grahame! Is the score available publicly?

Great Mingus music. Sound very bad unfortunately. I was looking forward to hearing this version of "Meditations" again. Very disappointing.

That's the original recording. Unfortunate but not worth scrapping such an awesome performance.
