There's a hilarious coincidence here in that Scott's Thoughts hosted a Porygon solo race in the hopes of eventually seeing you and JRose race against each other, and while there's no actual "race" here, you and JRose did end up releasing Porygon solo runs in Red/Blue at around the same time... and also around the same time as Scott released the video of his second solo run race with Parasect. The Starmies aligned nearly perfectly here.

Hey how about a gen 5 run where you use "only" zorua, where you misuse your ruleset by "only allowing zorua in combat" but you have other pokemon in the back slot for zorua's illusion to disguise itself? I don't know if the AI takes illusions into account, but either way, it'd be pretty funny to see a solo pokemon run feature many other pokemon on the battlefield.

Cool idea. The AI doesn't read through illusions, which is why Zoroark is such a common way to beat Ultra Necrozma.

Jrose has time to make the Pokemon perform at their best, for the best time. MDB has to make content faster. So, Jrose has more strategy and MDB has to use more brute force.

In the Japanese radio drama that preceded the first movie, explaining the story of how Giovanni got interested in Mewtwo and Fuji wanted to make it...we find out Giovanni's mother was the Rocket boss before him, and she was a money-centered woman that brought the team to what it was, but discarded even Giovanni as a baby until he was able to create a net income as a criminal.

Tip for future runs! Fire does not resist Ice in Gen 1- Ice Beam is a good move to use on Charizard and a decent choice against Blaine.

Oh man i loved seeing how differently you and jrose handled the same challenge. jrose seemed to get worse luck in places, but much of that may be brought about by his playstyle of minimum battles and speed running whenever possible. His elite four had to be done without saving in between which made it a much harder challenge, but alternatively not once did you try to exploit the badge boost glitch to supercharge your porygon, instead chosing recover to help outlast your enemies. I think both challenges were super fun in their own ways and show how amazing even pokemon gen 1 is for giving you so many play style options.

I'm not surprised this was an easy one. Porygon's stats are the definition of "good enough"and it's got a great move pool. It even has a niche in gen 1 OU as a dedicated Snorlax counter. I'd be really interested in seeing a New Vegas pacifist run. How many quests can you beat with only speech/skill checks?

A gen 3 Shuppet run would be interesting since it is the one gen where it really gets to use its attack stat, as literally the next gen makes most of its stab moves special, and doesn't give it any moves to make up for the massive loss.

Conversion seems like something that'd be pretty useful in VGC curious to see how itd interact with terastallization

Eviolite P2 / PZ have both seen play in VGC, but never with Conversion. Unlike Terastalization which happens on the same turn move is used, it is just way too slow to use conversion/conversion2 and waste a moveslot on it, which is pretty unfortunate. But it is a fun move to use on challenge runs like these, especially on later games (where changing your type is honestly more useful than in Gen1 or 2.)

Conversion no longer works like this, it only copies the opponent's type in Gen 1. There's a new move called Reflect Type that fills that niche now! Conversion now changes your type to that of the move in your first move slot.

Love watching these runs - what a great weekend tradition. My suggestion for a run: Pokemon Emerald with only Sceptile....but you have to use it's level 1 moveset. I think it'd be really cool to see you beat the game with a Pokemon that has good stats, but doesn't have good moves in a gen that really doesn't give grass types any breathing room.

As someone that’s watched nearly every video you’ve put out (Not that I’m unique in this!) I’d really love to see you do a run with a very strong Pokemon like a legendary. I think it’d give context to just how hard your runs are in comparison. So maybe you could do a run with your favorite legendary on a week you have a high workload just for an extra easy run and to show how difficult it is to do runs for those who have never done a single Pokemon challenge like me. Hey MDB, for some runs where there are good TMs or items that are only accessible through the Game Corner, instead of grinding it out or not doing it and making the challenge harder, it would be much faster and easier for you to just hack the coins into the game. You can do whatever you want, but that’s just a suggestion that could help make runs easier and would give you more time to do literally anything else. Willing to hear people’s thoughts on it too!

Fun fact! Porygon has a very small niche in Gen 1 competitive! Because it's a Normal type, it can't be paralyzed by Body Slam and it's the only Normal type to get access to Recover (which has more PP than Body Slam). Because of this and having better physical bulk than Chansey, it can _somehow_ stall out several Snorlax sets.

Okay, I knew Porygon wasn't going to be particularly hard (Porygon's stats are decent for a Gen 1 Pokemon, and its movepool really complements most of the major battles of the game) but I did not expect it to go this well. This was a real treat to see. New record for the channel (probably, I have a lot more videos to go through to confirm), and quite the treat to witness. Many thanks to MahDryBread for this run.

As someone who lives in the New York City area and saw our skies hundreds of miles away absolutely battered by the smoke from those Canadian wildfires, I can only imagine how rough it must've been for you living through it in Canada!
