But in india, it’s just one exam to determine the acceptance. Here in the USA, we have to be extremely well rounded and do many types of activities to be a doctor.
@WhoisSunless Жыл бұрын
@@JimMilton-gp9opThe numbers are misleading as well since US MD applicants are self-selecting as the barrier to applying to medical school is much larger than in India. If you include all pre-meds in undergrad the numbers are probably similar 1.5 million pre-meds 20,000 seats

@andrewwilliams63452 жыл бұрын
I would like to add a 4th interview type that I have encountered a couple times this cycle: completely virtual. There are some schools that have adopted a virtual interview format without an interviewer present. You are granted access to a portal where questions will show up on the screen and your response is recorded. Not my favorite interview style, but you do get to do it on your own time.
@RedRaiderLobo202 жыл бұрын
Wait. What? How is that even acceptable? I hope you’re not going to that school. I interviewed in person for both med school and residency. Now doing virtual fellowship interviews, I definitely feel something is lost. But nothing that audacious.

@@lilliampumpernickle4655 Thank you! I’m excited for you, it is a hard journey but a good one. Enjoy your pre-med years! Some of the best pieces of advice given to me were to learn early that the best ways to make it as a pre-med is to find a good group of friends and work together to help each other get there. The second one is to find your “brand” so whether you love music, videography, fishing, etc. that is what makes you, you and you can use that direction to build a framework for your resume. For example, one of my best friends was an avid skiier, joined ski patrol, and also researched rotational stress on the knee joints of skiiers. Schools love stuff like that and it is fun for you too because you can chase your passion. Again, I’m super excited for you and have fun!

It's fascinating to see the US system! 😊 Many similarities compared to UK - importance of an engaging personal statement, entrance exam, and finally the interview (panel or MMI) where you have to display your passion and research into the profession. In the UK, we have a unified system (UCAS) for university applications. But wherever you are, preparation is key - every step is important!! Good luck to all 🙌😊💯

@IgarashiSayaka8 ай бұрын
Like, in theory, if everyone was answering honestly, it would be a good idea, but I seriously doubt anyone writes these essays expressing their honest opinions and experiences and not the things the admission committees want to hear 🤷🏻♀️ it's ridiculous, same goes to the interviews, the majority is just faking their personalities so that the interviewers like them

Hey Med School Insiders... do you guys think you can have a video for students that want to get into med school but has close to zero academic experience, just barely graduated high school and chased a different career path? I personally went back to Korea to do my army service for 2 years, came back and i still didn't know what i wanted to do. So I'd been working odd jobs until the pandemic hit and a lot of things happened in my life, and I decided i'm going to be a doctor. Not that i "want to" or i "need to", i'm going to. I know it's gonna be hard especially since I had barely studied back in high school and it's been 7 years since then, but i'm determined to take the first step and not give up. Please help!

Then 6months later took an exam (not knowledge based, more abilities such as quick grasp of difficult text or interpretation of diagrams etc.) Done. If i score high enough i get in. 6years of med school right after High school. And yes, its actually harder to get in. 41% in USA, ca 30% or even less here. And boom, im in 3rd year now.
