I always found it so funny how we've been suffering a shortage of doctors and other medical professionals and yet they've done absolutely nothing to mitigate that.

1:35 That was my issue when I applied the first two times. On my third time, I added volunteer work that reflected my will to help the underserved and got accepted!

For those of you who think why medical schools only accept a small number of students each year despite the country being in a state of doctors shortage, here’s the reason Btw i’m a doctor myself so I understand why medical schools do so (it happens here in my country too) Medical schools produce doctors and doctors deal with literal human lives on a daily basis. We’re the ones people turn to when they’re sick (second to God or whatever your beliefs are). Essentially sick people trust their lives on the hands of these other humans in white coats I don’t mean to discredit any mechanics, but what’s the worst that could happen should you cut the wrong wire? Probably a jammed non functioning machine right? But what happens when you diagnose a patient incorrectly, or prescribe the wrong medicine or cut the wrong nerve or the wrong blood vessel? It could lead to paralysis or even death right? I think this is why medical schools only want the best minds that are ready to be molded with critical thinking and heavy subjects I need you to take this into consideration on why medical schools are so nitpicking when it comes to selecting new students. I used to find it ridiculous too until I myself graduated, took an oath and handled patients myself It’s hard to believe but here in my country, there *are* doctors who can’t even count the dosage of pediatric paracetamol can you believe that 😂

A video topic I thought of the other day that might be of interest to Med School Insiders would be a breakdown of the most instate friendly and least instate friendly states for applying to medical school. Basically what states it pays off to be instate and which not so much.
@MedSchoolInsiders7 күн бұрын
Great idea! We have a written guide we're currently working on about Best Out of State Friendly Med Schools. Comparing across states could work too!

How hard is it for a Foreigner Doctor to practice medicine in the US? How hard is the USMLE and ECFMG, and how competitive are the residencies? I have read that certain states are eliminating the Residency Requirements due to doctor shortages.

In india 25 lakhs students gave NEET entrance exam for getting admission in medical college. There are around 40-60k seats i suppose (including every college be it private or govt) and out of which 70 percent seats are reserved. So inorder to get admission we need AIR under 17k rank.

On the plus side, I just ordered some leather boots from India for $175 that would cost at least $500 if they were made in America so we can all be glad for that!

It is simply absurd all over the world how hard it is to be admitted, on a super hard career to study, on a super hard career to work on. And yet everywhere in the world there is a shortage of Doctors.

Are writers that are not PHD or MD OK, like a letter from my EMS executive board?
@idtolani10 күн бұрын
Yeah. Two of my letter writers didn’t even have a college degree and it didn’t affect me much. I would assume that as long as you have 1 MD/DO and professors who are PhDs, you’re good.

@ I was gunna have 1 science and 1 non-science PHD, working on a physician letter though
