You make such a good point about how terrible the guardian is for anyone with physical disabilities. I don’t have any and still find it difficult to insert and tape adequately. So ready for this to be available in the US!!

Yeah Simplera is really the first CGM from Medtronic that’s accessible to people with diabetes with physical disabilities. It also means they can now use 780G pump or inPen in a connected way.

@@Nerdabetic What happened to Medtronic's tubeless pump?

The deal to acquire the pump they wanted didn’t happen because of legal challenges and other matters. Medtronic publicly stated they working on an in house tubeless pump but it will be a very long time until we see this

I'm so glad you posted this! I'm in the States and it's not approved by the FDA here yet, but I am so ready!! It looks so much easier!! I'm on Guardian 4 now and I'm widowed with no one to help me change my sensor each week. I have no problem inserting the sensor and pulling off the needle guard but for some reason I have a very difficult time getting the transmitter clicked into place so I have to find someone to help me. It's usually a neighbor, a coworker, or several times I have walked up to random strangers at the gym and asked them to help. I hate being a burden each week, so I can't wait till I don't have to do that anymore.

Great video, and great news about Simplera! I'm writing from the States, and I can't wait for what you rightly said is the worst part of the 780G system to get better. Stay kind!

Thanks for the review. It’s such a pity we probably won’t see it launch in South Africa any time soon. The G4 is the bane of my pump experience. The only options we have here are the 780g with G4 and the Tandem with G6/7.

I would love to have this but Medtronic are saying that patients already on the 780g pump have been told they are going to have to wait until they can roll out an update to the old pumps which is very disappointing.

If you hear any clues about FDA approval for Simplera Sync US, let us know. I agree Medtronic should implement the Abbott Libre 3+ algorithms. The tech is built-in just needs to be turned on. Like the 3+ Simplera Synch should be a 15 day Sensor. I've used the Libre 3 with the 670G in manual mode for several years. 780G just delivered with training to be scheduled next week. After 54 years with Brittle Type 1 I'm more than ready for smart AID algorithms! Thanks for your review from a new (US) subscriber to your channel.

I find Medtronic to be asleep at the wheel because they dominated the North American market for such a long time. This stock unit is obviously an outcome of some internal questioning but it’s no way the best in my opinion. My opinion being based on video reviews of course. I used 2 different Medtronic pumps then transferred to using Tandem + D6 and wowee! So whatever pump + CGM combo is actually a huge privilege if you can access it. We are in “Diabetic Disneyland” as I call it after the decades of waiting on the stick… if you are lucky!

And thats why I put my sensor around my stomach/abdominal. Although, simplery is way better than the current G4, but statistically, its outdated comparing to the competitors.

Do you know if the adhesive tape of the Simplera is the same as the Guardian 4? I am asking because I react very sensitive to some afhesives (e.g. Freestyle 1 in the past) and atm my body has no problem with the Guardian 4 adhesive. Do you know if there will be a possibility to try a Simplera sensor before switching the sensor as a whole? Thanks for the video :)

I ditched the Medtronic brand completely due to the guardian CGM sensor and the extremely proprietary supplies. There needs to be open standards that device manufacturers follow. I want to choose my pump, infusion set, algorithm , CGM. I’m interested in a 7 day infusion set but not enough to go back to Medtronic. But if open standard (same connection system) I could try and possibly give Medtronic that portion of my money. But on the flip side. If I had a Medtronic pump that would be the only part of their ecosystem I would own and possibly the infusion set. Dexcom CGM and a different algorithm.

I use the tandem pump with the G6, but I would be extremely interested in the 7 day infusion set, probably the only I would change except for upgrading the G6 to G7

Used Simplera for a couple of weeks, and in my opinion its a total disaster! The aplicator does need so much pressure before the sensor pops out, IF the sensor pops out anyway, the first one didn't, the second one does and failed after 3 days, the 3th didn't pop out after the 4th i was completely done! After a huge push it hit a bone in my arm and started to bleed and yes! After 4 days sensor failed again, i going back to G4 its outdated maybe but insertion is much easier and painles, ill wait for the Libre 3 when its available in europe connecting 780G pump. After a call with Medtronic Netherlands they confirmed my problem, a lot of users complained about the same problem.

Was the sensor filament like the G4 or was it different? Is hard or soft? By the sounds of it, that doesn't give me hope for the future :/

So, on the DL, there's a trick where you can extend a G3 or G4 sensor by unplugging the transmitter from the sensor and plugging it back in and setting it up as a new sensor on the pump. I've been able to get an additional week quite regularly doing this. Seems like there might not be a way to do this with Simplera :(

Once taking the transmitter off the sensor do you put on charger first? To make sure it’s charged good.

I’m hoping anyone who has had the chance to wear the Simplera, I want like to know if the sensor filament is the same as the Guardian? The one thing I liked about Guardian over the Dexcom sensors is that I couldn’t feel the filament, it’s soft, flexible whereas Dexcom felt like a needle. It irritated my skin.
