So im going to suggest that your blade comes out LONG BEFORE your collar to elbow hookup. You can get jinked just as well as he can. It looks cool and is based on prison knife fighting methinks...at least its similar. But no method should ever assume that their victim doesnt have a knife also. Knife out sooner. Always. Not faster, sooner.

In the clips where there is no blade in my hand we are just “talking” about things and how it could be a blade, a flashlight, a pen, any force multiplier.
