Contrary to what the makers of Imodium want you to believe, you should NEVER, EVER take Imodium if you have an infection caused by e-coli, or food poisoning. What's important is to keep hydrated while you have diarrhea. Imodium + e-coli can be deadly, and it is irresponsible for the makers of Imodium to tell you that diarrhea is not good no matter what, and that you need to take their product to stop it. Never take Imodium or products like this without consulting a doctor or nurse practitioner first.

Interesting. Can you provide more info? A link? I'm dealing with something unknown right now, food poisoning esque. I had one night of visiting and it's now been about a week with totally liquid poops. To make life easier, I have started taking loperamida/Imodium.
