Dr. Howard Donner's unique medical practice has taken him to the farthest reaches of the globe. He began his career working 8 years as a professional river and mountain guide. Now specializing in high altitude and expedition medicine, he has advised mountaineers, rescuers and aerospace personnel throughout his career.
Howard spent 3 climbing seasons as a rescue doctor for the Denali National Park Service at the 14,000 foot medical/rescue station. He has worked on numerous medical projects in the Himalayas including the first American ascent of Kangchenjunga, two seasons as a staff physician for the Himalayan Rescue Association, and as expedition doctor on the 1998 NOVA Everest expedition.
Howard also served for 5 years as a medical operations consultant for NASA, where he was involved in the design of the Shuttle and International Space Station medical systems. He is a commercial pilot and Certified Flight Instructor.

Excellent videos Dr!! You are thorough & easy to understand! BUT, I want to emphasise that cold water shock can happen in warm weather also!! I used to lifeguard at a camp in Long Barn, CA with summer SHADE temps up to 95* (Yeah, I now understand how the Thanksgiving turkey feels!) My chair was in direct sun & pool was about 86 but might as well have been 40 when I jumped in!! When it's 125 outside, unless the water is over 90, cold water shock most certainly can be a serious issue! :)

I would love to see more on improv splinting! Also sprains, strains, & how to tell the difference between the two; that is a subject that is universally overlooked and/or under emphasized, in my opinion!! Thanks again for your videos! The best I've seen so far for sure!
