A fabulous talented woman who flourished in one of the nastiest most misogynistic industries on the planet. Imagine the press in the in the late 60’s when tastes had changed saying things like “she’s the worlds oldest virgin”. She broke box office records doing fabulous films with Rick Hudson Cary Grant and many others, you morons. A great singer, very talented artist, and a wonderful human rights activist. RIP Ms. Doris Day, and thank you for all your wonderful work.

Most of her movies were before my time but I'm so glad I got to see them later, I believe the reason she became such a big star is that she was so much like the inner part of the characters she played, classy, intelligent, down to earth and warmhearted, you can tell she is these things in real life, that part of her shows though, she has aged well all of her life, she set a precedence for woman, that real romance was not always happily ever after and that she was perfectly fine in not having to have a man in her life when she got older, to me that shows just how strong a lady she is.

Well, Ms. Day had unhappy marriages which caused her lot of anguish. She also had some dishonest business managers. I think that it was sad that Rock Hudson felt that he couldn't even confide to Doris Day. The pressure on him must have been so great...

Man, ever since I first watched one of her movies a while ago, I've always thought she should've also been a voice actress at some point in her life, like in some Disney fairy tale production, because - not to mention her outstanding singing voice, but - just her speaking voice alone is probably one of the loveliest sounds I've ever heard, it's just so pretty. Like, even in this video, she's probably in her early 60's, her voice sounds so soft and warm, she just sounds just like a Queen in one of those beautiful Disney fairy tale movies should sound like :)

I consider myself lucky to have been alive when she shared herself and talent and goodness with the world. Of all the people I have known and met being in the business, not being able to meet or run into hewr at some point is the only regret of my professional life. But you gave us this which is just like meeting her. Doris Day is a role model for everyone, man, woman and child.

I thought it was interesting that Gary drew a strange connection that if she was so involved with animals, then there must be something lacking in her personal relationships with people. Not accurate obviously but interesting that he inferred that. She is so wonderful to listen to: she is so thoughtful in answering questions...there's a vein of spiritual awareness through all of it...very inspiring to listen to her. I felt sadness that her interviewers keep bringing up painful topics/experiences from the PAST. You can see her do her best to be poised in responding but her spiritual perspectives clearly indicate that she doesn't dwell on the past, and continues to view everything as positively as she can. Imagine how interesting the interview would be if they simply asked her to share about her faith and her focus on positive thinking.

She is now 96. That program she did then was slow paced, over the top in sentimentality, and the visual look, that ultra soft focused video tape, was distracting! Dick Cavett tried a show with very much the same format; outdoors, close ups, one guest per show, it didn’t do well either. Talk shows work well with a diverse panel of guests who actually speak their minds. Today’s U.S. shows have one guest at a time and each is promoting a tv show or film.

I am a great admirer of doris days work there is no doubt she was a great entertainer in every way and i do believe her talents cd have been further expanded with mestier roles.however having just finished a book i was reading about her it would seem that she was the catalyst in a lot of bad choices she made .even after she was warned about her first hisband by her mother and othersbof his temper and how he was prone to rages and having even witnessed first hand his sullen behaviour she still went ahead and married him and even after he cheated on her and beat her numerous times she still stayed eith him.it was only after he held a gun to her pregnant tummy she drcided to leave him.she went on to marry msrtin melcher who her mother also warned her about she thought he was a con man not to be trusted as it turned out she was right but again doris went ahead and married him.she didnt listen to any reason at all and paid the price unfortunstely.none of her marriages were great but she never seemed to learn by them.
@meenyminymoe4 жыл бұрын
Dolores! Martin Melcher, her third husband, wasn't a con man as it turned out. Both Doris, and her son Terry, think he was just a guy who had been duped by a crooked lawyer (Jerome Rosenthal). The lawyer was eventually disbarred.
