While I wish I had seen this prior to last night's game, halfway through we realized our box came with 2 sets of butterfly tiles and no bird tiles, so we literally could not play the game. This video will be helpful, assuming either Next Move or the OLGS sends me the missing tiles or makes it right.

In a 4 player game we found placing 5 tiles per garden expansion to be better. This is because the number of tiles you have access to changes depending on the number of players. In a 2 player game you have 4*5 tiles + 5 garden expansions for a total of 25 combinations of options, so 12.5 tiles per player. In a 3 player it's 4*7 + 7 for 35 total or just under 12 per player. For 4 players, with the written rules, you'll have 4*8+8 so 40 total or only 10 per player. This makes getting sets harder than usual, especially given you are now competing with 3 others. With 5 per draw you have 5*8+8 for 48 options, which brings you back up to 12 per player in a 4 player game like in the 2 and 3 player versions. The game is about making sets and so in my board gaming club we agreed that facilitating that was better. You will also cycle through the bag again and fill more than a 3rd of your board which feels a lot nicer. I think you should give it a try if you play it 4 player. Have fun.

The dark purple blossom hex on the garden expansion may be placed adjacent to the light purple blossom hex or it may be placed adjacent to no other hex but it may not be placed adjacent to the light green lily hex because they share neither a color nor a pattern.

When the bonus points are calculated at the end of the game. Do the 6 bricks have to be different colors or different shapes, or can the group have the same colors and the same patterns? Can the 6 bricks of the second group also be connected to another group of 6 bricks? In my opinion, at most, the board could theoretically have 13 pieces in 6 groups, in which case 13 x 6 = 78 points.

i don't get why the placement at 10:27 is not legal. Could you explain this to me? Thanks!

During round scoring, there are little numbers above each color/patter symbol (1,2,3) what do they mean?
@Kulpo Жыл бұрын
Isn't the garden extension in 11:51 illegal placement because you have two identical tiles next to each other?
@chucknorris934511 ай бұрын
The colors are difficult to make out, especially between the printed boards and the tiles, but I believe those are 2 different colors (light purple and dark purple), so it is a legal placement. I don’t know why they chose colors this way 🙁
@johnklein34262 жыл бұрын
For clarification on the scoring at the end of the game, can you tell me what the score for the board shown would be?
@MeepleUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Looking back at it, I believe it's 98 (excluding bonuses/penalties for leftover jokers and tiles). Blue: 7. Light green: 9 and 13. Dark green: 6 and 10. Light purple: 11. Dark purple: 0. Yellow: 9. Trees: 6+6 bonus. Birds: 6. Butterflies: 0. Four-petal flowers: 0. Five-petal flowers: 15. Tulips: 0.

For tile drafting. Let's say there's 2 plant tiles (1 blue and 1 light green). If that plant is the only blue tile can I single out that one by claiming blue tiles, or am I forced to get both plants.

I believe you just say you claim blue to just take the blue. Stella.

Am I right in saying that your explanation of placement at 11:54 is not correct? You said that placing the purple symbol next to the same colour is legal but isn't it actually illegal as it is a duplicate?
@MeepleUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Hi krg1605 - it's a little tricky to see, but the placement at 11:54 is okay because they were different shades of purple (one light purple, one dark purple).

Hi, thank you for this great rules explanation! We just played the game yesterday and one thing we weren’t sure of is: when you take the last tile from a garden extension and flip it over, and it’s the same colour OR same pattern you’ve named and just took, can you also take the newly flipped over garden extension as well, or does it only become available for the next player? Thank you ☺️
@MeepleUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Flipping the garden extension over occurs only after you have finished taking tiles - so it's available for the next player, but not for the player who emptied the tile.
@timeafarkas2 жыл бұрын

I think you missed the rule where if you have any tiles leftover in your storage at the end of the game - you score score 1 point for every joker you have left, and then negative points for any tiles you have left equal to their value. Otherwise, great video and it cleared up some rules for us!
@MeepleUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, thank you so much for popping in! We did get publisher to double check that we get the rules all correct hehe. Ah yes yes that is the correct rules, we covered that at timestamp13:57 - probably not where you expected ;P. Hope you enjoy the game!

Could you do a play through for this game? There isn't a good play through anywhere. In every play through I have seen, they make many mistakes or misunderstand the rules, making it difficult to learn.
