Either I sized these a half size small, or the last/materials are uncomfortable for me (or both). They hurt my feet, so I moved them on. Poor clicking, but for the price, zero complaints. They looked GORGEOUS.

Thank you for posting the video-pretty informative. I have a semi love-hate relationship with Meermin. At one point of time few years ago, I swore I will never buy any of their products. But their current lineup has vastly improved. About 5-6 years ago, their shoes ran much bigger than stated sizes, which made breaking them in much harder-had a pair of suede monkstraps which never broke-in (after 2-3 years), and got sold (for a loss). Their dress shoes and boots do run smaller now. I would recommend getting UK 9.5 if you are US 10.5 in most pairs. I am comfortably UK 8 in most brands, but for Meermin, their UK 8.5 sizes fit me best. The reason being they use E-width instead of F-width, which is in-between C and D widths in US sizing. So, going up half a size is optimal for all day comfort. The UK 8 shoes in Meermin are alright for me for a few hours of wear, and I now have pretty narrow feet. I got this same Balmoral boot model from Meermin, but in burgundy, and they are very comfortable, and fit me very well now (seems like they have improved the materials and I got the right fit). The wrinkling/creasing on this pair of yours is pretty normal, even Carmina, TLB Mallorca, Crockett Jones and Allen Edmonds all crease in the same fashion around the same area (people have variations in walking and fit). Main objective is the cap on top of the toes remain blemish free and shiny, and that is what everyone can see. At the end of the day, leather is an organic product and is taken from the hide of an animal, and flexing and creasing are natural. Materials like suede, shell cordovan, and even canvas will tend to have rolls and minimal amount of creasing.

Hey David I’m an 11 Brannock and got one of the Meermin chukka boots in 9.5UK/10.5US. They’re on the narrower side for sure. A thin-sock summer boot for me. I took the foam insole out and put in a thinner leather insole. Pretty happy with them now. I think once broken in I could go back to the foam insole.

Interesting. Sounds like we had a similar experience. I should have sized by (or taken out the insole as you say).

I own a few pairs of Meermin boots, and a pair of Meermin longwings. The break-in for all of them was punishing. Once I got over the break-in, they are some of the most comfortable boots I own...Not exactly the problem you have here. They usually fit true to size for me. QC could be better, but isn't terrible.

I love balmorals. I have two pairs, one by Becket Simonon that are a little cheap looking, but as you say, a cheap way to experiment, and one from TLB Mallorca that are fantastic. Oxford boots are a really cool Victorian old timey style. Cheers!

That’s awesome! What do you think of the TLB? I hear great things about them.
@drzaius844

@@thevintagefuture6567 TLB is excellent value, and their handgrade line is exceptional quality, the downside is there aren’t a ton of styles in hand grade. Their standard offerings are killer if you’re into sleeker European styles. Carmina is great too, a little more expensive though.

Btw im not completely shure do they count as Balmoral boots but Regtime ponton ankle boots from Brass Tokyo are apsulute showstopper in my eyes. Maybe they would be interesting to you to. To me they look like manson last that managed to look proportional and supricing in the same time. Interesting high end stuff

I think it’s just called the Meermin balmoral. But sometimes they don’t have it.

I like balmoral boots and want something similar to this. I was looking a shell to help prevent the grain break issue, but the higher buy in for something I might not like or wear much is a bit risky. I wear a tux about 2-3 times a year and want to upgrade shoes at some point and really identify as a boot guy. 😂

Was just talking to you about Barbour liners on the SDPD😂 Anyways, YES, balmorals are the best! You should totally get some. And I should get a replacement. I’ll say, it elevates the tuxedo or suit even more than a shoe IMHO. It’s about how the pant leg drapes over the shaft versus a shoe break. And when you sit, the elegant shaft adds a touch of class which socks can’t ever replicate. I don’t hate dressy socks, but personally I think socks are so BLAH as compared to a refined boot shaft on a nice balmoral.

@@thevintagefuture6567 yes! Exactly why I want some. Now as always, if I can nail the fit, I’m golden. 😂 (we can just chat on both platforms simultaneously 😄)

so it's custom meermin season... do you know the difference between their boxcalf and "naturcalf?"
@thevintagefuture6567
@thevintagefuture6567 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I don’t know what their naturcalf is supposed to be. Boxcalf is, however, standard in the industry. The boxcalf they’re using seems to be ok, though not mind blowing or anything.

Fun boot! Shame it didn't fit. I ware Meermin pare for tunderdome this year, it was MTO pair and clicking was perfect on my. Im not shure was i incredibly lucky or this is normal on MTO pair. I got super supriced by durability of Itshide commando sole.

I am proud that you are educated about these boots however I cringe at how you’ve laced them. Btw Oxford shoes are just low cut balmorals is all but the originals began with boots and when one wanted to slick down then he wore shoes slippers or loafers :-) .

😂 ya caught me! 😅 Yeah, I relaced them the hack way a while back. My oxford shoes are still bar laced. And yeah, I was aware of the origin; perhaps I should have mentioned that. Cheers! 🍻
