Humboldt penguins live in northern Chile, shoreline of the hot and dry Atacama desert. They got there carried by the cold Humboldt current from Antarctica. Penguins are also called locally as "pájaros niño," or child-birds due to their tiny body and walking way.

Wow, what you do for the animals here, and for animal conservation, is amazing. Much more than zoos who use animals mainly to entertain. Really wish i could visit. I'm in Netherlands, a world away. Thankyou for all the compassion, work and *effort youput in for these beautiful creatures 💗🏞🌳🌿

Welfare for the animals is a top priority for this zoo. The penguins look quite content- is it the same as in the wild; of course not. However i think as far as zoo care goes these guys are pretty pampered.
