This guy has exactly the right attitude about his cars. He just adores them, but doesn't take them, or himself, too seriously.

I had designed and began work converting a minivan into a mini camper with everything you'd have in a full size. Tried to do too much too quickly got frustrated by setbacks and burned out.. now the project is not finished and I can't seem to get back into it😒 -hoping within time I will find the passion again and then 1.5hrs max each time I work on it.

I really doubt it, i think he is a total asshole. The part where he talked about the saab that was for sale for 2500 and he waited for the owner of the car, to be on the point of being evicted. And than bid 1800, is one thing. But just find it funny and laugh about it, makes you a downright asshole in my book.

I bought a new Saab Sonett in 1967 in Columbus, Ohio. It was serial # 232. I drove it till 1970 and traded it for a BMW 2002 in Knoxville, Tn. It ended up in California for awhile and I think now it is in teh Netherlands. Great car. I even got to run it on a NASCAR track where a friend was the PR director.

In the 60s, I lived in CT just a couple miles away from SAAB port USA in New Haven. Wardell G. Hadley was a marketing manager there; I mowed his lawn once a week. Really looked forward to the time spent reading R&T issues between the cut and get paid. And Ward's great stories. And some freebie promo stuff like a rare drymounted litho of a 96 cornering hard in snow at the 1968 Monte. Drinking Pommac there, which was a funky Swedish soft drink kind thing which SAAB ... ummmmmm, smuggled. Yes, in the trunks of the 96's I no so far later was driving out the side of a transport the ship several stories up. On pre-OSHA creaky metal rams that had flexible points to go up n down with the boat! Got a 96 Monte Carlo for college - Snowmageddon 1977 in Rochester NY had EVERYONE snowbound. Except for that disparaged 'Egg", 4 Vredstein M+S studded had that stumpuller first getting me through all of it, slow motion but faster that everyone else watching enviously and shoveling snow. Great memories, thanks for being a great SAAB story!

... I came to SAAB a little later ... in 1978 my father was hired by SAAB SCANIA as a District Manager ... and he brought home this funny looking, (4) headlight, curved windshield car ... a 78' SAAB 99 Turbo ... and I fell in love w/ them. As a engineering student I just loved all the safety features ... and when you shifted into 2nd gear ... that funny looking car got up and was ... GONE!!! I surprised the heck out of a lot of other drivers/cars !!! I have a 91' 900 Turbo Convertible to this day ... best car ever built !!!

I really like the fact that he actually drives his cars and enjoys them. Not like other collectors, who just stack their cars in the garage, and let the dust gather on them. The "rally" part was just awesome, he's killing it, and that's why cars are made in the first place :)

I had a 1965 Saab 96 when I was 17 (in 1967) and the Saab dealer I went to for parts (I did all of my own work too) had a 2 cylinder Saab on display near the parts counter. I dearly loved that car, and always drove it like I was in a race. Sadly, while I was racing around on Merritt Island Drive (Florida) I overcooked a corner at the same time a flash shower decided to burst, and the rear end began to pass my front end. After a good spin out I found myself off the road and spinning through the palmettos, and then I hit the ONLY TREE out there broadside. The whole car folded in the middle, the windshield popped out (as they were designed to) and my non-seat belted teenage butt went flying from the driver's seat to the passenger seat (the roomy, flat floor permitted me to remain vertical) and into the padded arm rest on the passenger door. A few years later I bought a 1967. An extra carburetor yielded 42 horsepower instead of the rather pedestrian 40 horsepower of my 1965. The Bosch distributor caps had an unfortunate tendency to develop hairline cracks, invisible to the eye, but plenty roomy for nighttime Florida humidity (or rain) to creep through. The 2 stroke Sonnett is the second coolest and most beautiful car ever designed, the first being the Jaguar XKE, of course.
