Meet Boji, Istanbul's commuter dog

Getting to work on public transportation can sometimes be a headache. But in one of Europe's largest cities, commuters say a canine companion is lifting everyone's spirits.
Boji the dog has a busy schedule to keep. For a couple of months now, the stray dog has been a regular commuter on ferries, buses, and subways in Istanbul.

I am from Singapore, Istanbul is one of the best city that I have travel too. I dream about this city a few times even before I visit. Nice people, nice food and beautiful scenery. Never a dull moment. I stay near the Galata tower. Extra bonus I am there when there have a coup against the present president.

It wasn't ''a coup'' because in reality erdogan had an islamist alliance including fetullah organization which was someting like a sect. He favoured fetullah members in the army while many Turkish generals were protesting claiming they were untrustworthy but still they were ignored. It was going fine when erdogan and fetullah had good relations but it didn't last forever and their relations got worsened. So erdogan began discharging fetullah members from his government and fetullah organization was becoming weaker and weaker so they tried such a move at last moment before they loose all their power. It wasn't a coup rather a handful fetullah members causing havoc within the army, for example they ordered few thousand soldiers under their command to close bosphorus bridge and capture TRT building and clueless soldiers just followed the orders. While they tried to capture Turkish general staff so they could send orders to the entire army not just few battalions under their command. However other generals quickly realised what was happening and ordered entire army to stay put regardless what order was coming from Turkish general staff and send soldiers to Turkish general staff who easily defeated fetullah attempt. So ''the coup'' was over even before it began and nobody needed to protest on the streets. You might think why exactly they didn't use their soldiers to capture Turkish general staff, it was because those soldiers under their command weren't also fetullah members just ordinary soldiers so vast majority of them wouldn't follow the order of attacking turkish general staff while when their order was only ''close bosphorus bridge'' they didn't think they were a part of a coup attempt.

@@mustafalizz3736it was not difficult for me but for my family as I am concern for them and worry airport closed and I even planned to travel to Bulgaria to get out as I am concern about civil war. I can hear helicopter gunships firing . Luckily the president use his FaceTime to communicate and next day we enjoy ourself at Takzim square and wave Turkish flags. Singapore is a peaceful country and we don’t even have natural disasters. I still hang the flag in my son room. We will surely visit again.

@@somerslim25 Thank you for your nice words. Yes that day was really crazy day. 251 civilians got killed but we saved our president and our democrasy. The people who did the coup d'etat had no problems with tourist so nothing would happen to you, they just wanted to take over power of the country

@@somerslim25 It is true there could be a civil war in Turkey but there was absolutely no chance of a civil war happening that day! If i summarize Turkish politics 40% are islamists, 30% are republicans, 10% are Turkish nationalists and 10% are Kurdish nationalists while the remaining 10% are ''others'' who don't follow mainstream politics even if they are also Islamists, nationalists and also communists etc far groups. There are 116 active political parties in Turkey while 110 of them are in others. When Erdogan first went into politics his AKP party couldn't become majority alone so he became allies with fetullah organization which stayed in others without much political power even if there were many islamist parties in the past. So with fetullah organization AKP party or ''islamic alliance'' so to speak came to power alone and had enough PMs in the parliment to change laws etc in return Erdogan supported fetullah members in government and army. It was all fine until Erdogan and fetullah relations got worsened as i mentioned earlier. After 2016 Erdogan established another alliance with Turkish nationalists this time and he still has around 50% of votes. So if islamists target republicans or republicans target islamists then a civil war might happen, in fact Erdogan thought it was a republican coup at first which is why he called people to stop them but it turned out it was a fetullah coup that republicans hate them even more than AKP does!! So even if nobody protested and died during that day the coup attempt was going to be crashed within few hours by both republican and AKP supporter soldiers!! So Erdogan was actually very wrong calling people to protest and caused unnecessary deaths sadly. To be fair a republican coup wasn't something impossible as they did it many times in the past but both republicans and islamists realized staging a coup doesn't work anymore rather only deepening and postponing the actual problem so vast majority of us don't support armed interference anymore. So it is true there is some chance of civil war in Turkey but it is extremely low that i even think a civil war in US is much greater possibility than ours...

They made a special google application just for him, in case if he gets lost or has an injury. A guy showed the app, they can follow Boji and he gets his food in everywhere he goes. He is well behaved like the other animals here.

These are street dogs. They are born and grow up in streets. They don't have any "owners" they are just part of city life and are free in the cities in Turkey. People feed and take care of them and so does the principalities as well since people expect that from them. Hence why he is vaccinated and has that tag on its ear. And now since he become famous they also put collar and tracking device on him so no one can steal him from the Istanbul's streets.
