North Port, Florida's Danny Sams III is the only 3-time winner during Ohio Sprint Speedweek 2024. The D3 Racing team, owned by Rocky Anderson, is a tiny family team doing big things. Sams won exactly one-third of the Ohio Sprint Speedweek race events with victories at Muskingum, Hilltop and the $10,000-to-win finale at Atomic, his biggest payday to date. He also put down 3 Quick Time awards. His family team hums with the help of Mom and Dad, who took a year off from their world back home in Florida to chase this dream for their son. Come with me, the History Mystery Man, as we go on a fascinating journey with Danny Sams and crew at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio...enjoy!

Find Ricky Lewis and do an interview. Ricky is last years BOSS series champion, he was the winningest Non-Wing Sprint Car racer in the nation last year, he just finished up Eastern Storm, and has 7 main event wins so far this year. He is a Californian who several years ago immersed himself into the midwest, moving to Indiana. He is a testament to hard work and perseverance.

To me, being from CA, Rippin Ricky has been a badass for some time with CRA but it would be really cool to see a feature done on him or Justin Sanders. I think Sanders could do damage on any tour if he could get out of CA

@HistoryMysteryMan
@HistoryMysteryMan 3 ай бұрын
Thanks Robert. It was Millstream's first race, so I give them a pass on the dust. It was hot, sunny and super windy...bad combo for dirt tracks. But you're right. Larson made mention of it in an interview last year too...that if it was a dirt track in Ohio, it is going to be dusty. Maybe if they could start later in the evening? But then, the fans get out too late. No answers...HMM

@@HistoryMysteryMan Yes, it's hard to keep moisture in a track when it's sunny and windy. Rainfall is the best answer. It's difficult too keep up when it gets watered with a truck. Happens here later in the season.
@HistoryMysteryMan
@HistoryMysteryMan 3 ай бұрын
@@robertayers9424 And other tracks battle sun and wind too. But when I watch tracks like Knoxville, Kokomo and Port Royal, I don't see dust on the level I see it here in Ohio.
@robertayers9424
@robertayers9424 3 ай бұрын
@@HistoryMysteryMan Looking at how the Ohio tracks were at the end of the night, I suspect it's lighter, sandier soil . The holes that develop, the dust etc. , will cause water to disappear faster. I think Knoxville and Kokomo have heavy soil, primarily due to the rich farmland around. Along with abundant rain to keep the water deeper in the track. Just my theory and observation.

Always enjoy listening (and watching) another conversation that you were able to strike up with a young ambitious race car driver. Doing what he's doing take a big commitment from him and an even bigger commitment from his parents. A track like this only reinforces why my wife refuses to watch racing with me at a dirt track -- she does not like the dust.

@@HistoryMysteryMan I've had so much going on lately, I just haven't had a chance yet to attend a race. But trust me, it'll be changing. Possibly the Doty at Attica, certainly 4-Crown. And quite possibly Portsmouth for High Limits. I had a nice 3 day trip last week doing some ship stuff. Went to Ashtubula, Conneaut, and Erie. Two highlights were seeing the Roger Blough laid up (sad), and the brig Niagra. The museum in Erie was really cool. As was their nature center just outside the State Park. So much stuff on the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. Also cycled the 13 mile loop around Presque Isle State Park. Great riding along the lake and harbor. Really learned a lot about these 3 harbor towns. You know the drill. Seeing first hand is the best way to learn!

@@chuckg6039 I'd like to go to all 3 of those towns. I remember going to Ashtabula and Conneaut when I worked on the tugs, but it's been so long...I was just a kid. P.I. State Park sounds awesome! I may go to the Jack Hewitt Classic tomorrow...not sure.

Cool to see this up and coming driver profiled in this video. Like you I don't think I've ever heard of Danny Sams III, but if those 3 big wins are any indication he might very well become a household name in sprint car racing soon. Florida isn't much of a hotbed for sprint car racing (excluding asphalt), so this this makes his journey even more interesting and remarkable IMO. Wishing him lots of success but if things don't work out he still got to live his dream and he's got a good career to fall back on.

No problem HMM. It would have been good if he shared it. My guess is he probably forgot. I can only imagine how busy he is on the road, but it would have been beneficial to both of you. And I really wish your videos would get more views. It's hard to explain why one video you post gets 4 or 5x the views of another similar one. Although, if you just put Edmund Fitzgerald in the title of every video that would help a lot! In all seriousness though, I always try to like your videos and also post some well thought out (at least for me lol) comments.

@HistoryMysteryMan 3 ай бұрын
@@greggrauscher34 And your contributions are always appreciated. Putting Fitzgerald in the title may be the best idea I've heard yet. I reminded him the video was there, highlighting his sponsors, and responded with a like, so I can't buy the "he forgot' theory. We're all busy. I think he just chose not to share...and that's ok; he has that right. Thanks again, Gregg...HMM
