OMG, Australian Shepherd puppies are so incredibly cute and unbelievably smart! They can learn to "shake," "spin," "go down," and "roll over" as well as all sorts of other tricks on literally day one when you pick them up at 8 to 10 weeks. I had a Blue Merle Miniature Australian Shepherd with two different colored eyes who was the most beautiful and smartest dog I have ever met. I now have a Black Tri Mini just because my other MIni was so gorgeous that I didn't think any other Blue Merle would ever measure up looks wise. Regardless of the coat pattern, they are the best dogs ever.

Winsical Moments I’ve had 2 Border Collies before Molly and they were very smart and athletic, but Molly seems even smarter. I went through Sit, Shake, Lay Down, Up, Walk, and Roll Over in a half hour with her doing it all about 3 times each. I guess repetition would help, so I’ll practice with her every day, but because she’s so smart I’m thinking of more challenging tricks like having her jump onto my feet while I’m on my back with feet up or jumping onto my back while I’m on my knees. I feel like I could easily teach her anything I can dream up. Are Mini Aussies smarter than Border Collies?
@WinnieK974 жыл бұрын

I came to see your dog who is absolutely adorable and I am kind of researching mini Aussies because I may get one in the future, but.......I noticed your cat.......who is an absolute duplicate of my rescue cat Buster. I don't know what breed Buster is but he has the really fine facial features and ears like your cat and streamlined sleek body, tapered tail, small feet but very strong, great balance, climbs everything and even though he is smaller than them, our neighbor cats don't dare fight him because he is an amazing acrobat and he scares them away. He has a personality of a Bengal but he is too small. Oh yeah, he is an absolute lover, loves to snuggle, pat and kiss his humans. You dont have to answer this but if you do, can you tell me the breed your cat is? I really should get a dna test but it's just one of those things I never get around to.

Beans: (Looks at lil chunky helix) Helix: (Looks at cat) Also Helix: So you have chosen death.
@chloetan2292 жыл бұрын
Helix is so cute and adorable. However, sometimes you too many commands in quick succession without rewarding him for eg from sit to down to another command ( I can’t remember) and you gave him a strap/ stick but didn’t release it so he didn’t get rewarded for obeying a command. You let him lick it and gave another command and a third command, making him look a little puzzled. Fortunately he is a little trooper and he went on to attempt and obey your command. This is actually confusing for a dog and a more timid dog may get upset, confused and give up. This is also why your leave it command failed towards the end of the video. You said “so close” and quickly asked him to look at you. It’s not Helix’s fault. You asked him to sit ( no reward) and then quickly changed it into a lie down ( no reward) and then you started placing the treats on his paw and said “leave it”. It would have been good to reward him at least after the down command if you didn’t want to reward the sit command. So reward after lie down, then say leave it and place treats on his paw, then give him a treat while the ones on his paw remains and say good leave it and reward again. I would probably reward after the good leave it in the early stages and phase it out after he’s gotten used to the command and just use a happy high tone “ good leave it” as his praise/ reward. Your tone was too high and pitchy and too fast, too many commands in close succession …but I’m sure he’s learnt the commands by now. Hope you don’t mind the feedback. It’s good to take note in case you have a very sensitive and timid dog in the future. Also I feel very sad to see him caged up so many times. Not sure if you are doing this to toilet train. Yes there are some people who will say that crating is ok and dogs feel safe in their den. If he was my dog, I would have him in my bed. Their life with us is never long enough so take every moment to cuddle with them. I love the part of the video where he was on his back and smiling. That was just too adorable and so very cute.
@zachleahy35152 жыл бұрын

I really don't get why people feel the need to train their dogs like circus animals doing tricks and sh&t. What is the purpose?? Let the dog live a happy life and give them love. The only person impressed in the owner because an animal actually "learned" something because of them. I think it's sickening to treat poor animals like this unless you are going to put them into a circus. All of my dogs are exceptionally smart including my 10 week old mini Aussie. He's already house broken and only had him for 4 days. Love breaks all barriers, just show them what to do they understand more than you know. Another thing, I would never cage up my dog, that's cruel as well. Helix looks healthy and happy that's a good thing, but my fur babies would never have to be treated like a damn slave in their house doing tricks and shit lol.
@WinnieK973 жыл бұрын
I personally disagree. Training a dog is very important for their mental health and promotes engagement between them and their owner. Tricks themselves may not be the most important thing ever but they help aid into the dogs listening skills and overall discipline. A dog crate (if done right) is a very helpful safe space for dogs to go to when they’re stressed, sleepy etc. I personally only use the crate sparingly now as he’s house broken but those first few months can be helpful esp since their bladder is so small. I’m glad your new Aussie is doing great, however and I hope the best for you! ☺️ thanks for watching!
@lordieb56683 жыл бұрын
@@WinnieK97 Thank you and the best for you as well. Everyone that knows me calls me the "dog whisperer". The secret is understanding your dog and their needs. Love plays a big part of any relationship. Anyone living in my home has full access to use every part of my house including my dogs. I don't know how to "train" people or dogs. My dog's vocabulary are expansive from just listening to me. My 5 yr old dog tells me when he wants to go out, when he's hungry, he even says " Out" when asking to go outside. I didn't train him to do this. I hurts my heart how people think by making them run in circles massages their intellect. I do things like ask them which toy they want to play and they either point at it or go get it. I just could never treat a harmless poor fur baby like that , but Helix seems very happy you are obviously doing something right. Have a very Merry Christmas!
