I've heard it's a great idea to teach hand signals alongside vocal commands because it makes it easier to be able to communicate with your dog as they age and their hearing starts to go. It's also just so impressive and reinforces paying attention. Love your videos! I have a red tri male who is so similar to Frankie in size and frisbee obsession.

Indy WAS in to it..but she fall on here head :( I think you did not notice that, but she was in pain for a moment. I hope she was/is ok?! It's so good you learned Frank the hand motion! My dog became deaf at an older age and thankfully she new a few hand motions. Even when she was very far away she tuned in a lot and 'listend' to our hand motions. But if my mom would have know about so many other trick and hand motion (when she was a pup...I was 5..now 41, so long time ago) it would have been way less stressfull for my lovely doggie. She was scared a lot those days. So ceep doing them! You never know when you actualy need them :)

I tried to teach my border left and right. Now it's one action to him: alternating shaking left right left right left right etc. oops! Nice trick but I wanted independent actions, the left and the right. But he puts up whatever is in line. If I say left twice in a row I get a left and a right. Love the wave. Will teach him that and work on speak as well.

Kind of regret not getting a puppy because of how “easy” it is for them to bond with you and learn quickly, I adopted my dog 6 months ago and he’s 2 yrs old, picked up as a stray and I just don’t feel a deep bond with him like I think I would a puppy. He’s very independent unfortunately.
