I don't see how content creators can make any long-term money on this app. The app DOES NOT allow hyperlinks on the posts. Pinterest allows hyperlinks which is how the creator makes money. Shoppers will not be able to buy the products that the creators are posting. It doesn't make any sense to me.

It's still so new! It's possible they're building out new features as we speak. At present though, I imagine brands could pay creators to feature and highlight certain products as they do on other platforms already.

Thank you for sharing! My hesitation to download, is that a big reason for the TikTok ban, are concerns over the type of data being shared with companies connected with the CCP. Founded or not, if this is another brand by the same company, what’s the lifespan realistically going to be before it too is on the chopping block? I’m debating if it’s worth dumping time and energy into something that’s likely going to get axed, once someone in government catches wind of it.

I have more concerns about Instagrams copyright terms really… As a photographer, I’ve struggled with putting anything up on Instagram, due to their Terms and Conditions stating that they have rights to use your unique content for whatever they see fit. Yet it’s difficult to grow a business without a presence in many of these spaces anymore. It’s easy to either forget or willingly look over the reality that nothing is ever free. These apps make money off of us one way or another, and I get it - businesses have to make money. It’s just about knowing what you’re agreeing to, and coming to terms with those factors. Reading back over my previous comment, I realize it comes across with more emphasis on the data aspect than I originally intended. It’s more so pointing out that a similar social media product, produced by the same company currently targeted for such concerns, makes an app like Lemon8 seam like a weak time and energy investment. I haven’t ruled it out completely yet, and your video on it is super helpful informationally!

When you said they want female content creators, age 18 to 25.... it sounds like a 'market' 👀 if you know what I mean 😶‍🌫️. And the allure to use it is that they "pay" for people to post on there 🤔... ehh 🚩🚩🚩🤷🏾‍♀️

I felt weird about it too. However, you could in some way apply that same thinking to any kind of advertisement. In this space it makes sense to compensate people to get on the platform because then others will follow suit. And I do believe the paid content is disclosed as paid.
