Jim Brown Miller was one of the many violent men of the wild west. Miller started out as an officer, Texas Ranger, outlaw and professional killer. Jim Miller was often well dressed and had good manners, he did not drink or smoke and often attended the Methodist church, earning him the nickname “Deacon Miller” but don't let the nickname fool you, Miller was a wolf in sheep’s clothing and would go on to commit many murders.

John Wesley Hardin lived in Rancho, Texas east of San Antonio around Gonzales.His wife Jane is buried in the Mound Creek cemetery around the Denhawken area There was a highway sign pointing the way to Mound Creek ,a small yown.

Are you related? He is my great grandfather's older step brother (11 years older). His mother's parents did die of old age. His step fathers parents also died of old age. His real father was killed in a saloon in Alabama. His real fathers parents died mysteriously and he was tried for that and acquitted. He was 7 or 8 at the time. It was later discovered that his grandparents were killed by the same people who killed his father. They were never brought to justice. It is deduced the wrongful accusations led him to live the life he led. First as a lawman in Pecos and Texas Ranger then an enforcer for big cattlemen. I have a relative who did extensive family history in an effort to clear things up. So, Yes it is mostly untrue.

His mother never remarried after his father died in Franklin, Texas. His father was not killed. I’m not sure where your family member got off track in his research. It can be hard sometimes to sift through folklore.
