My wife purchased a new Rav 4 in 1997, we kept it for 4 years. We only had to change the muffler during that time. I purchased her a 2001 Lexus LS 400. She was astounded with the new purchase. It was also a Toyota product.

@@Hunter-fn4sd I'm a little worried for the engine with that little miles over the course of 10yrs, that makes very acidic oil, even if you're barely driving that's considered extreme driving conditions, considering you change it every 5000miles or once every 3yrs If you change it every 3/5months you should be good though with your little driving
@Hunter-fn4sd3 жыл бұрын
@@YungSteambuns Thank you for the concern, my dad used to be a GM mechanic and is very religious about oil changes. At the Toyota dealer it was bought from. The vehicle has gone through multiple oil changes already (3-4) and well it was sitting in the garage, my dad let it run idle for a bit maybe hour or so to circulate the oil every so often. And now that I have it I drive it more often now. Up to 15 now

You’re a great son! ❤ And I’m hoping your mom will love her new car! FWIW, if I’m understanding the model you bought, this car is not available, at any price, anymore in the entire New England region. I’ve always babied my 2009 V6 AWD LTD Rav4 with nav system (albeit outdated), door handle-touch unlocking, seat and lumbar heating, retractable sun/moon roof, alloy wheels, all options! I love the near-perfect critical 360 deg visibility the windshield, side, and back windows afford. Having to drive in dense pedestrian/biking and then high-speed interstate New England traffic, it was my number 1 criterion in choosing my new car at the time - coincidentally during Obama’s “Cash for Clunkers” program. The sound system isn’t Bose (my other car), but not bad, and I can pipe every i-device through it with cables. Always taken fab care of it (great local Toyota dealership for all servicing), always done Toyota Rav4 maintenance schedule, always synthetic oil, always garaged, washed (incl. undercarriage) and waxed often, detailed a few times, pristine (except for driver) carpets, looks almost brand new, no body or wheel corrosion, all Toyota recalls mitigated, and have only 81k miles on it. Even after 13 years, it performs every kick down and out of the hole situation with the best of them on the frightful rotaries and aggressive high speed traffic in Boston. As to snow - nothing stops it! Just to be safe, I’ve always laid carpet samples atop the back carpet for if I ever get stuck, but have yet to use them. The back is more than ample, especially with the mid seats down. One year, in fact, I transported half my kitchen (and lots of cast iron) to Toronto to make a two-roast-duck American Thanksgiving dinner for my daughter and 2 of her Canadian friends whom were all students at the University of Toronto. And it’s great space for the family dog - a major woof. Anymore, I keep a full size Coleman cooler back there for groceries and perishables I want to keep frozen during errands and for long trips. Edit: RE not having a ‘3rd seat,’ as a mom, I’ve never ever liked seeing people, especially children, so close to the back of any vehicle - they’d surely be hurt in any rear end collision, especially without 360 deg air bags to protect them. I don’t think the industry even crash tests rear collisions. Re work and maintenance, the only things I’ve needed in 13 years have been new tires, a new battery (after 11 years!), some sort of AC duct thing, and finally, new boots.

Yeah the difference between the 3rd Gen RAV4 limited and the RAV4 Sport for 2006-2012 was the suspension. On the Sport it was more of rough ride compare to the Limited. I have driven both and I find the Limited more comfortable then the sport. But the only thing is that the Limited comes with the Push button Start compare to the sport where it has the key. I've had 2 of these, both with the V6, tow package and AWD - Sport end Limited. Road noise was awful with both. My 08 Rav4 started to fall apart at 110k miles. Compressor went out, oxygen sensor went out (O2 sensor was an easy fix thankfully) and the car performance in general just seemed to decline very precipitously as it aged. Ended up buying a 2nd one that was a 2011 because I got it for a good deal with 30k miles for $15k, but that was back before all these ripoff car prices took hold - back around 2017.

@burneraccount51213 жыл бұрын
Not true. The rav4 actually has a similar weight ratio to the camry and the rav4 had an optional AWD system whereas the camry did not (at the time). 3.5L v6 + AWD > 3.5L v6 + FWD. Rav4 v6 awd 0-60 times are 6.1-6.4 seconds. The v6 FWD camry of this era were around 7.2-8 seconds! What a dog. Camry is certainly faster now, as the rav4 doesn't even come with a v6 anymore but the accord 2.0t has the camry v6 beat for days.
