@@NusBH it was actually rare for men to wear earrings in the 1950’s except if you were a sailor or something. Mr. Clean may have been modeled after a pirate or sailor archetype (some type of outlaw). However by the 1970’s after the hippie counterculture- men wearing earrings were more common so Mr.Clean wearing an earring was not as unusual.
