Woke up this morning thinking about this song.... When I was little, my dad was a real serious guy. But no matter what he was doing, no matter how annoyed, if I pulled a sticker off a Chiquita banana and stuck it on his forehead, he'd shoot up like a man possessed and start singing this song and dancing, as if forced by the sticker. actually, there is no nutritional value increase from letting a banana ripen or get brown spots. The only thing you are doing is letting the sugar in the banana increase hence the reason why it is sweeter. it is digested easier but a greener banana has more resistant starch which acts like fiber and also feeds the good bacteria in your body. Cool Song and great advertising though!

I recall this radio commercial before we had TV (Late 40's or early 50's). What stays in my mind is the phrase, "Never put bananas in the refrigerator." But I learned recently, that to retard ripening too soon, one should put them in the frig. This works. I had a bunch of 5 bananas in the frig, but forgot about them. After 2 weeks, the skin turned brown, but they were still firm, just like being perfectly ripe..
@brians3987 Жыл бұрын
This is true. At my work they accidentally stocked the bananas in the cooler with the sodas and drinks and by the time we found them they were all dark brown but when you peeled them they were perfectly fine but we couldn't sell them because they looked bad on the outside.

Did anyone ever get a Chiquita Banana bowl and spoon?! I remember having a set. The bowl was shaped like a banana and the spoon handle was shaped as a banana. Both had the logo on them😀!

Side job for the New York-based Paramount/Famous Studios crew in the late 1940s, and a break from their usual Popeye, Casper or Little Audrey work (Paramount and the Fleischer brothers had been doing theatrical animated commercials with sound as early as 1930). This is the only one of the theatrical Chiquita ads to be completely animated -- the others all contained live-action inserts.

They should have been showing this as a cartoon feature in theaters when Sausage Party came out.
