I have chinchillas and I bonded my two males it's a pretty fragile process lol chinchillas are super territorial, especially females because they're the dominant gender of the two. The best way to bond them would be to keep them in the same cage but separated on different levels so they can't hurt each other. Every time you take them out to interact you need to have hay out (two piles) treats (two SMALL TINY piles) and more than one place to hide (a tube or cardboard box turned on its side) for them to hide if they feel unsafe. Supervise them constantly and if they start to bite each other remove them immediately. They might look like they're being aggressive but things like chasing, chirping, jumping and nervous behavior are all totally normal and part of how Chins interact when they first meet. It takes a long time to bond chinchillas depending on the pair you have and sometimes they never end up getting along (especially if they have a bad fight, if one gets significantly hurt theyll never mesh) just be super patient. Try to give equal attention to both while still making chi chi feel like she's being replaced. Chinchillas are super smart and just need time adjusting to things because they're very territorial animals. Good luck!! And be careful, sometimes these little fluff truffles can get violent as all hell and fight to the death- especially females, just read advice online and you'll be golden lol

I have two guinea pigs, and when they first were put together they did fight a lot, but that's because the one that was there first is trying to show dominance. Kinda like its there territory and needs to show who the boss is. Of course it might be different since they are chinchillas, but its pretty similar between small rodents. Over time they should stop the fighting, but if it does get out of hand then seperate them. They could end up hurting together.

you should buy another case and sit beside gigis. when you hear/see them begin to talk together they will proproply be able to be together - and also remember to treat them the same way, so theyll know that they are just the same and none is better - though there will normally be an alfa so it´s actually normal that they fight a little... best wishes from here XD

They are independent...... they will fight....But Before you put your chinchillas together, place them in each other's cages for about an hour. Make sure you leave the original bedding and houses, ect. This way they can get used to each other's scent. 3. Now place fresh bedding in the ones cage and put the other one into the cage with the other one.

I think you should've put Bunbun in the pen first so they would get to know the area, then put Chichi in. When I got my younger rat I cleaned my older rat's cage then put my younger rat in, and the older one in second. My older rat did what Chichi did, you should watch them closely and if Chichi is being too rough to Bunbun, Bunbun should let out a noise and that's when you should take Chichi out. I hope this helps you!

Ok, just because something at a pet store says its ok for chinchillas doesn't mean it is! That harness is not good! Pet stores sell so much stuff that is labeled for chinchillas but is very dangerous for chins. I'm so glad that you got some toys, hides, and covers but there is still some stuff that you can do better. There is an AMAZING group for chinchilla care on facebook! Its called : let's love chinchillas And is a closed group specifically for chinchilla care and tips. Please go check it out! Anyone can join! And anyone who is reading this that owns a chinchilla please join the group. It has helped me and my chins so much! Please double or even triple check if something is safe for chinchillas! Once again, anything plastic is NOT recommended! Alex, if you don't want to take this advice please leave this comment up so other chinchilla owners can see this.

@Wassabi Productions With guinea pigs it helps to introduce them in the bathtub filled with a little water because it neutralizes the scent (I also think they bond over surviving the terrifying situation together). Idk if that works for chinchillas as well, or if they can even get wet, but maybe look into it?

They'll be friends Alex, trust me, my dogs used to be like that, when I got my second puppy, my first dog really wants to bite him,I onced placed my second puppy on the ground so that they can meet and be friends but my first dog bit her! When I looked at the skin of my second puppy, it's bleeding! And she's crying. Whe went to the vet, the vet said it would be better if she stayed there for a week so that the first dog will find her and think she killed her. After a week of them not seeing each other, guess what!? My dogs are friends!
