Little videos like this is what inspired me to pursue film in college! I love learning all the little details that people work so hard to put into films, especially stop motion animation, that make them come to life in a way you wouldn't think would be possible.

I love LAIKA . I wish LAIKA would collaborate with Mike Mignola on Hellboy. Once the models are made they can be used numerous times, instead of just one movie. The stories can come straight out of Mike Mignola's graphic novels. Can work on the whole Mignola-verse. The lighting can match Mike's nice dark atmosphere. Please. It does not have to be a 2 hour long movie, they can be numerous shorter sequences that tells Mike's beautiful stories straight from the graphic n novels. If you want to make a full length film that is fine too. I would love to see LAIKA Hellboy. Please.

How do you take out the grounding steaks and the things that holds the puppets when they jump or run is it done in editing?

The rigs are painted out in post - sometimes it's easy, sometimes it isn't. Usually you might capture a clean plate, and then it replaces the area where a rig was and roto around the area of the character where it attached to. Other times you have to source other plates from same as shots if clean plates are not available. It can be done in the edit, but almost usually done by VFX on these larger films.

I have a serious question for you guys. After 100s of times watching coraline with my kids, I noticed during the scene where the other mother is giving her the present all in one sequence she does a 666, then does the goat hand sign as she brushes her face. Now I'm curious who decides to do this, who animates, it's clay right so u gotta make the actual thing, blows me away if someone knows would be cool.
