l love both of you alls channels so much. I am a 41 year old mother of two. I had my daughter at 40 she’s now five months old! Vaughn the self care definitely kicked in stronger for me after our second child because there is no way we can take care of our families without being whole ourselves. I did it with my first. They begged me to take the epidural on my second. I refused until they told me they were afraid I would have a stroke . So I took it and it didn’t even work. It only numbed my legs so they had to hold my legs.

Same here with both my boys! My water broke at home with my second and just like Vaughn it was too late for any pain meds when I got to the hospital I was ready to push. Vaughn you are a trooper! One push that's amazing. Congratulations to you and your family! Ava is beautiful 😍

Congratulations!! Im a massage therapist, a doula and a mom of 3. I’m utterly flabbergasted that in the year of our lord 2023 nobody told you what it’s like having regular childbirth! No doctor… no nurse… nobody?! Nobody told you that a due date is just an estimation and at any point 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after you can go into labor. That there are 3 stages of labor, bloody show, transition, etc. Birth is a natural process and your body will do it without you. Our medical system is so sad. Birth is not a medical event it’s a natural process! Off my soapbox but… I thought you were going to say you had birth in the ambulance… lol. I’m absolutely with you on the soft life, and slowing down and enjoying the moment!

Y'all I can't with this labor story feeling like my real girlfriend is catching me up on the phone!!!! Yes to a doula and midwife and an all natural birth !!! Congratulations !!! I had three different births. The first one was vaginally with the use of and epidural, the second one was an unexpected c-section and I had to get a blood transfusion, and the last one was an unexpected unmedicated birth under five hours. I’m done having children because labor is no joke. 😂 I’m happy that you had a healthy and safe delivery.

Congratulations!!! My delivery happened the same way with my second child . The only thing kept him from coming was that my water didn't break . They broke my water once I arrived at the hospital. He was born in 9 minutes thank GOD my water didn't break . I still remember to this day 32 years ago . You go girl you did it !!! 💪👌👏👏👋🙌🙏😇

Vaugh, I agree with you, sometimes we (women) don’t know all of our options because your typical Doctor/nurse usual stay within the norm. I had a midwife for all 3 of my births, I knew I wanted a natural birth my and my actual doctor didn’t offer that so i did my research to find some other options. I also did a birthing class so I know what to expect but even with that each birth was different. All 3 of my babies were natural but with the last one it was so painful i could barely move, at one point O was on all four, butt in the air getting punched throughout labor and delivery and you know what I didn’t care., the main thing was getting my baby out safely. They thought the cord was around her neck. We were built for this and you did the dam thing mama, so proud of you.

The same thing happened to me with my oldest son. My water broke at work and by the time I got to the hospital it was too late for medication. I wouldn’t wish that pain on anybody! I was proud I did it but I’d never do it again. Ish happens, even with a backup plan. Don’t beat yourself up. She’s here and healthy, that’s all that matters. Congratulations on baby Ava! I pray for a full recovery in body, mind and spirit and a successful transition into a family of 4. You got this Vaughn!

Your story is similar to mine. I was blissfully ignorant to how birth was supposed to go with my first and only child. I labored all day at home, went to the hospital at 6:38p and gave birth at 7:45p. You're right! Them contractions are involuntary. Ain't no damn countin' that's for sure! 😅 Congrats to you and Anthony!! So glad you had a safe, but eventful delivery. ❤

Girl my last birth was unmediated (not by choice). I was 40 and my daughter came fast and furious. I was pushing in triage. I BEGGED for an epidural but it was too late. My daughter came out in 2 pushes. I tore and them sewing me up was longer than the delivery. I also had crazy hemroids from pushing so fast. Having a baby with no epidural made me realize how amazing and powerful women are. Women are amazing.

I love a birth story, chatty and all bc you do get to learn about different birthing scenarios and medication options. I had an unmedicated birth with my first and the nurse telling me and helping me breathe was amazing. I'm definitely having a doula this time in 3 months because the right breaths were so important! I'm praying to have this experience and not have to be induced due to my blood pressure this time. Also, if anyone needs to know, to help prevent hemorrhoids, start the miralax a week or two before planned delivery. Glad you and Ava are well! How far along were you?
