Wobbly Cats! Meet Our Kittens with Cerebellar Hypoplasia 😺
Have you ever met a wobbly cat before? Wobbly Cats are cats that are diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia and it is a neurological disorder that causes sudden jerky movements, uncoordinated motion and loss of balance. It happens when the kitten's brain doesn't fully develop before birth.
CH is non treatable, but it does not cause any harm. The cats are not in pain -- they are just a little different! They need special love and attention to care for their special needs, but they can live full, healthy lives just like any other cat!
Do you have or know a cat that has been diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia? Tell us how special and unique they are in the comments! We hope this video helps others to realize the special needs cats are just as deserving of a home! Help us spread the word!

I just adopted/ saved my CH boy from being euthanized. He's severe so can't walk but is such a sweetheart 🥰 I've been waiting 13 years to adopt a CH cat and the cat distribution system blessed me with my little Lenny. Not gonna lie it's been scary trying to figure out his wants and needs but I'm ready and willing to do whatever it takes to give him a good life. Thank you for raising awareness on this.

We just adopted a 5 month old CH kitty who started his life at the SPCA at just 14 days old. Unfortunately, because of his condition, no one was interested in adopting him. He stayed in the shelter from 14 days old until 5 mos, when my kids & I stumbled upon him by pure luck. He was the biggest goofball in the place with an energy level off the charts. It took about 10 mins with him in a private room & we knew he would become a part of our family. He definitely has his quirks with the CH, but don't we all lol. I think it was truly meant to be that we found eachother that day & he now has his forever home.

We adopted a cat from the shelter and 3 days later gave birth to 3 kittens. They are approaching 6 weeks one definitely has CH although he has not been officially diagnosed. I feel truly blessed to have the mom and her 3 babies. Two have been spoken for and the one with disabilities will stay with me and his mommy. Thank you for shining the light on CH.

We adopted a kitten from a high kill shelter where they’re only given 3-5 days to be adopted. I chose a cute little girl-we weren’t allowed to interact with her before signing the adoption papers, but could see that she and her siblings were very playful and active, which perfectly matched our other new kitty at home ( we read two kitties of similar age in the house is better than one, and that’s definitely been true-I’d agree that you should adopt two, not just one!) Anyway, when we got her home, I noticed that her head was a bit wobbly. She was losing her balance easily, especially when turning corners and fell a lot. I was pre-vet in college, and immediately worried it was neurological in nature. She is, BY FAR, the sweetest cat I’ve ever had out of many. She follows me everywhere, when she’s not running and playing with her playmate. She loves to just sit in my lap, and I was SO worried that the issues might mean a reduced lifespan or progression of the symptoms. I googled “wobbly kitten” and found loads of info about CH. if that’s what she has, it looks mild, but I’ve never had a more loving kitty. Wish I could attach a pic--she’s the cutest little thing, and deserves just as much love as she shows. ❤

i adopted a ch cat almost 2 months ago and shes somewhere between mild and moderate in her symptoms. i named her Tipsy and shes a very loving and cuddly girl about 7 months old. she is afraid of heights because she has trouble getting down without falling. like you said she almost got euthanized because of her being a stray cat and because of condition but a friend of mine swooped in and took her home immediately. she saw the cat and immediately thought that cat would be perfect for me because i have tarantulas and since she can’t climb or is afraid of climbing she will not tip them over. my friend was totally right in every way possible. i sincerely love this cat and i could not wish for a different one. she is the cutest funniest and most loving cat i have ever seen even if she is really feisty sometimes. everyday im so happy to have her around ❤️

About to pick up my adoptees in TWO DAYS! I wanted an adult bonded pair and this one happened to include a 9 year old with CH named Wobs. I'd never heard of it before, and the shelter staff says it's pretty severe, which after watching videos, I agree. He's very wobbly, but also so loving! Came over for treats and pets and cuddles. I am SO excited to have him and his mate, Roxy who is the fluffiest cat I've ever seen. I'm also so glad Wobs has a buddy. The cat room will be decked out for both with high and low spaces designed for cat fun and comfort.

We have a CH kitten. We got him at 6 1/2 weeks old and he was severely dehydrated and malnourished. He only weighed 340g at the time. He is more of a moderate to severe case. In the first week he was not able to nurse off a bottle so we had to syringe feed milk. We also had to hand feed can kitten food because he was not stable enough to eat on his own. He is now 8 weeks old today and is up to 421g. He is getting better with learning how to eat on his own and also enjoys hard kitten food to crunch on. He is a very messy eater. We are still working on bathroom habits and still have to stimulate him at times. We sit on the floor with him at the litter box and have been trying to teach him. He didn't have very good grooming habits so we used a toothbrush to simulate him licking. He has caught on and is doing much better

We just adopted a 4 month old kitten with CH, and she had been with us for a week. She seems to have the mild case of CH. She tilts her head and body slightly to one side and has some subtle head movements when the rest of her is still. She does tip over frequently when very active. This kitten is happy and playful and a joy to have in our lives!

I have a little Wobbly cat, Maxine. She is such a treat, we love her so much. Maxine has a hard time walking and falls in her food sometimes. I have had her for a year. I only had 3 potty accidents in this time because she fell out of her catbox mid stream. Didnt bother me one bit. She is fully potty trained and extremely playful. They are the best cats to have. They are super lovable and don't really have the dexterity to scratch up your furniture. Its a win win for everyone. If you have a chance to get one of these babies jump on it.

Some people have asked for tips on caring for CH cats. We've had CH cats for about 20 years. The most important thing is to pay attention to you CH cat's abilities and behaviors and sort of experiment to find the best accommodations. Some CH cats find eating easiest from elevated dishes or from soft rubber dishes that are made for human babies (EZPZ brand?). One of our past fosters, in his forever home, was afraid of area rugs. His family worked with him, and he eventually got over it. We currently have two CH fosters, and I'd have said they couldn't climb stairs until one came upstairs to find me! (If you have stairs, carpeting helps them hang on as they climb.)

I adopted a CH kitten about 6 weeks ago. I wasn’t allowed to interact with her beforehand and was told she was mild/moderate. She’s actually more on the severe side. We just made necessary accommodations and have tried different things to help make her life a little easier. Hands down adapting her litter box to have one side that’s only about 2 inches high and the others to have about 10 inches has been the best thing. She just stumbles in and does her business as she leans up against one of the taller sides. If you have a CH kitty don’t be afraid to take what’s available and adapt as needed. She’s so loving and playful. I can’t imagine life without her now!

Other things important to note : the lack of exercice can also make it looks more severe than it's really is! Playing is important for all cats, but especially those ones ;)

Her walk is like an exagerated panthers walk and sometimes it looks like she forgets to put her back foot down😅 🤣 she is very clumsy and doesn't know how to land on her feet and sometimes just looks like she trips on nothing. The only time her head shakes is when she is playing or hunting something. She gets intention temors. Shes so vocal and loving and charismatic. I love my wobbly cat ❤

I adopted 2 cuties with this syndrome, over a year ago. They are my first cats I've ever owned. They are siblings and have it very mildly, they can't jump very high, and whenever they shake their heads they fall over. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!! They are so sweet and cuddly. I guess most cats have a tendency to bite and scratch, not these guys. I WILL ONLY adopt guys with this non-issue "problem". I would love to get some with a more severe case.

I know the head tilt our Aiden has is part of his CH, but he is so tiny, maybe 5 weeks old when I found him, it's precious. All of our male cats were feral kittens I was able to catch because they were so sick. The worst issue any if then had after all o the vet visits to get then healthy was horrible anxiety. In the 3 years we've had him, he's gotten much better, but I have an anxiety disorder so I understood his needs. I dint have that with our Our new baby, but we will figure it out. We use compromise with our other 4 cats and our dog and they're all pretty good about compromising with each other, so I I think we'll find out way along. Just in few weeks we've had him, he's made improvements so I'm really hoping we can get him waking so he didn't have to be stuck in a diaper all the time. If that's not our case, they make freaky cute reusable diapers and he will just become a well dress kitty.

I live in central Florida and found a 5 week old kitten baking in the gravel behind the restaurant where I work 3 days ago. Practically dead from heat and exposure, and apparently orphaned. Brought him home and have nursed him back from the brink. He's doing VERY well, except for the symptoms of a SEVERE case of CH. Going to the vet in the morning, and hope to learn for sure what his future holds. This is the most loving and friendly, tiny ball of fur I've ever seen... But he cannot stand, let alone walk... he "scoots" and hops around. I could use all the advice anyone can offer! He's already part of the family, I just want him to have the best life possible. Thanks in advance for comments! :)

My kitten was born with feline parvo. The mom died when the kittens were 3 days old. She was the only one of the litter that survived. She an only walk a few steps and has become quite good at shooting herself across her pen. I keep her in a playpen that has a top mesh cover. It provides a safe, soft place for her as she often hits hard when launching herself on the hardwood floors. Her food bowl is a soft silicone bowl but having trouble finding a bowl that she doesn't knock over. She's ornery and determined! .

Callie has mild CH, and is just a bit wobbly on her feet. She sometimes jumps on a couch or bed, and doesn't always make it on the first try. Then she will propel herself up by her claws. Her walk and level jumps (hops) are a little odd, but she certainly gets to where she wants to be! Eats and uses litter box fine, loves her two non-CH "sibs". A joy and delight! We didn't know what we were missing before I rescued her, jumping straight out of a bush in front of out apartments building one day.

Hi there:) So happy that I found your channel today! I adopted a small family of Savannah cats( Momma, Dad and Rocket, a little girl from their past litter. They came from a friend of the family who had passed away and her family was unable to take them in due to legal issues surrounding the breed in their state. To be honest we were not totally prepared but decided that we would make it work.. However we were much more unprepared than we thought. During the first vet check to get momma and sister spayed we discovered that momma was pregnant! We thought that we were ready for 3 cats but that number changed to 11 and that changed everything! The vet had even suggested aborting the litter which I was shocked at so obviously that was not an option in my household. We found loveling homes fopr all kittens but the runt ( he was litterally half the size of the rest of the litter appeared to be a little behind everyone else and then it became apparent that he is actually blind! He went to the well kitten check ups but this was not something I was able to afford ongoing ( The small family turned into a very expensive large family overnight it feels like. Anyway the reason I am here is he also has the shakiness but its just his eyes and his head a little. He is very cordinated and does not struggle and has kept up with everyone else quite well desp[ite being blind. At least 90% blind.!! But something odd.. It seems like his testicles are non-existent lol I was hoping you could tell me if this is a regular thing for CH kitties? and also the blindness? Im almost 100% asure that he too has CH but cannot afford the cat scan.

I have a wobbler too! Usually when people meet her their first reaction is sad, and they say they feel bad for her. The thing is she doesn’t know she’s different, and honestly it doesn’t affect her as much as people think. We have rugs everywhere for her, her own chair that sits on the floor that she doesn’t have to jump up to or climb(and it’s her favorite place to be!) The real difference I’ve noticed is sometimes they can’t always jump as well as other cats, so you make their space and toys lower to the ground (imagine how a dog is lol) and she’s good to go! Don’t let a lil wobble stop you from living with your new best friend ❤️

My cat unexpectedly had 4 kittens 6 weeks ago and one of them I suspect he has this or another neurological problem. He plays, he eats fine, is already litter trained, but when he runs, he falls over a lot...but because of this we are going to keep him as his imperfections actually have made him more perfect in my eyes. I couldn't put him down (euthanise)

It’s nice seeing cats with this similar condition together so not only won’t they feel out of the pack or different from the rest, but hopefully they also won’t be too self conscious on why it happens to themselves.

I volunteer as a foster for an rescue organization and we recently took in 5 kittens at a very young age. After a few weeks, I noticed one kitten was very shaky as though she were cold. I immediately took her to the vet and they diagnosed her with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. This kitten is one of the sweetest kittens. She loves to be coddled and held but can be very fiesty as well. She plays with her brothers and sisters as though there is nothing wrong. Her brothers and sisters have been pre-adopted but she hasn't. I am hoping someone will do the research I have done and realize how loving and precious these kitties are. I don't think she sees herself as being disabled at all! I have fallen in love with her and if no one adopts her, I will probably be a failed foster with her!

I adopted a kitten with CH, I thought he was just clumsy. Occasionally his back legs give out but that doesn't stop him from getting right back up and running, jumping, and playing with the dogs. His leg muscles seem a little stronger now that he's a year old. It's reassuring to read that he can live a normal life and normal lifespan. He's very affectionate and likes belly rubs, and I wouldn't trade him for any other cat.

I have a white baby Snow. Going on 2 months. Need to hold him to feed sometimes. Started with a spoon. Then to a plate. I think box training will be a big challenge. Cause he rolls all over. Alot of peeing accidents. Found the potty pad a couple times. And lifted his leg another and streamed everywhere. Picked him up held him on the pad til he was done. Pooped on the pads too. It's a hit and miss. Well get better at it. He's a joy. Lots of fun. Super happy...

This kitty has CH Cellebellar Hypoplasia, some has mild, some has moderate and some are severe, I adopted one cat in fear that they might put cat to sleep or euthanasia, he falls a lot each time it gets up and walks, has imbalance issues, tremor, his head bops when he walks, he could not jump, he lives a normal life just like any cats, he was the only cat left in cage, was surrendered twice and was abuse, does not use litter box because he gets thrown out of it and got tired of getting hurt, cat is smart and sweet, he is an indoor cat, he is happy, safe and sound with me, he gets along with the 4 other cats in the house ♥️😺Onur, thank you so much for loving and caring for all these beautiful cats, thank you for adopting cat with disability, he is so cute, he will give you much joy,😺😊GOD bless you always🙏

I found a feral kitten at my in-laws on Mother's day. He wasn't able to run away like the other kitten, so I picked him up and he was so "floppy". I brought him home and kept him away from the other 4 cats and took him to the vet the next morning. I was told he was to thing to be away from his mama, I reminded then I something was wrong with him,, it seemed like it might be neurological but I didn't know and I thought was he was going to die, so I felt it was necessary. He only weighed 0.14lbs. The next is home with 3 doses of de-wormer, did x-rays, agreed it appeared neurological and we may have to see a specialist and said to come back in a week, it could also be a parasite. The next week he was 1.04lbs and I was told it was likely CH and that he would likely figure out how to "navigate". I always thought a discussion needs fur baby would be to much, I cry see a little critter that has any disability, abuse, etc. I was afraid of have to give him up, not that we needed a 5th cat on top of an elderly dog with a torn CCL and joint disease, but I was trying to figure out how we could keep him. Our house is small and cluttered, he might need a wheelchair (I decided my hubby could just build that), he might need expensive medication, surgery, etc. I work from home, so changing disorders and bottle feeding isn't a problem. I started reading about CH and decided we got this. Aiden is so beautiful, he loves to eat and play and cuddle. I try and help him stand and try to walk out just stay sitting up without taking over and just move this little and and legs. He had this little wiggle, roll and body-surf method (pushed off of whatever he can to shoot to the other side of the bed or the playpen). He's crazy, and so fast. He gets so hyped up it's like watching gymnastics, somersaults, cartwheels and all. Instead of being sad for him, I'm happy for him. To think I was afraid he'd die before we could get to the vet and now he's almost fitting in an xs diapers and his onesie's without a lot of alterations. He hates taking a bath (but he can't live in squalor, even if he is a squaller) and he hates the hairdryer even more. We go back to the vet in 5 days to start his vaccinations, I can't wait to see how much weight he's gained. I'm not in a hurry for him to grow up, I just want him to fit in his diapers. My hubby and I couldn't have kids, I love animals and if always called our dogs/cats "the kids" so I've been content with that. Aiden has given me a taste of the mommy experience for real. I was exhausted the first week with my usual schedule and then adding in his care, but I loved it. I still love it. He stubborn and like most babies, he tries his best to avoid his diaper and the onesie (surgery recovery suit) the keeps the diaper on. I don't know how old Aiden really is, we're thinking about 8 weeks, so I think he's doing really well so far. I would love to see him learn to wall so he can have more freedom and run and play with the other cats, but I'll be proud of him with any accomplishments he makes. He's happy and healthy. I bought a tiny wearable carrier so that I can take Aiden with me when I take the dog out to potty during the day, he's still a bit small for him, but he seems happy to be included rather than staying in his playpen. We're just kind of winging it for now. He will progrees at his own pace and I'll invest in reusable diapers, everything will be fine, until I need a babysitter (who but a mama is gong ti volunteer to change the diaper on a squirmy little vicious..I mean fiesty...kitten). Long story, but I'm just so happy to find any info that will help me raise Aiden to live his best life. Thank you.

I picked up a feral kitten about a week ago (from the feral colony that I just feed by where I work). I took the kitten to Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene, Oregon. They gave ms some supplies and said it was a male kitten about 3 weeks sold. So I got some formula & started bottle feeding it & had to take it to work because it needed to be fed during the daytime as well. My co worker observed his wobbliness and looked up to find this condition Cerebellar H. So he gets passed around the office during the day. He is so sweet and used to us people now. My co worker has taken the kitten home with her to care for him. He is not yet litter box trained, but can get some wet food mixed in an applesauce texture with water or formula off of a spoon. Is really clumsy if trying to lap anything up from a dish. Not sure how to start the litter box training with this little guy. They gave us a small litter box with the pellet style litter.. There was another kitten as well with the mama cat, but it was too far away for me to reach & I have not seen it since then. We were able to trap & fix 4 cats last summer but its a lot of time away from work so I needed to stop doing that. I've never known about this condition before. I think this little guy is on the severe side of the spectrum. Will have to see how it goes as he grows and gets bigger. D from Oregon

I have had my bowser for 11 years now. He has CH and st first we didn't know what was going on with him as a kitten. He was my first baby kitten i ever adopted so to le at first we didn't realize something was wrong. He's been an amazing partner for my dad and they're now inseparable. We were told his lifespan would be 3 or 4 years. He's my baby and also he is Grampas favorite. Now grandpa won't give him back since I moved back out. Lol

my husband and i found a kitten on craigslist that we fell in love with. we went to pick him up and he was like a noodle in our arms. he loves being held like a baby and will just plop down wherever we put him. i’d never seen a cat like that so we got home and he started running around and playing and i noticed that he wobbled a lot and he kinda swayed when he was sitting still. or he’ll look in one direction really fast and then fall over from being unbalanced. i did some research and discovered that he has CH honestly he is the sweetest cat ever. he’s still a kitten and it’s so funny whenever he runs around and plays with our cat. i love him so much and i would adopt 1000 of other cats like him if i could

I rescued 2 young stray kittens. One developed CH. In her younger months (unknown age) she seemed like a normal healthy cat. She could run jump and climb. As she got older, slowly I could see something was "off". She can't jump now, awkward and clumsy when she runs. Looks just like the cat with the severe case in the video.. She's coming up on a year old now. Tips for a litter box would be very appreciated. Or any ways I can make life easier or more comfortable for her ❤

We have 2 CH kitties. One is an orange tabby who is very lovable. The other is a gray tabby who tends to be very Ferrell. She doesn’t like to be handled but is comfortable around us. Strangers show up and she hides. I made a ramp so they could go on the back porch. That makes it easier to step down. The orange tabby has it worse.

I am not meant to tell you about my CH cat because my message has disappeared twice. It's due to my Macbook Air's quirks. I adopted Cassidy when He was 18 months old. No one wanted him due to his perturbations. The rescue agency told me he had been hit by a car - they thought. I have had him 7 years and he was slow to be at ease and slow to be a lap cat. His head is straight and holds steady. His back end tilts and sometimes tips over when walking. His head jerks back and forth when he walks - like a chicken. It does not do this when he runs. He has lousy depth perception. He pees in his sleep when he dreams, so I have baby pads on everything. He gets embarrassed at this. I looked up his symptoms and found he had a mild case of cerebeller hypoplasia. He used to only stand in my lap, then leave. He is now a lap cat but still stands, turns around and stares intently into my eyes for a while, then lays back down. He is an absolute love, and I adore him. He has a "brother", Sundance, who I adopted as a kitten at the same time. They romp and chase each other. Sundance gets Cassidy to exercise his hind legs, which were weak. His muscles are built up across his shoulder blades because when he walks, he pulls with his front legs rather than pushing with the back legs. Both are orange boys. Cassidy is larger and is a longhair. He has a big ruff and the facial features of a Maine Coon. Sundance is a shorthair. I don't mind special case cats. In the past I had a black and white female cat who got a head tilt and a slight wobble from snacking on a skink (they have a neurotoxin in them). I had a blind cat that was also declawed. I found her wandering in a swamp (I live in Florida)-already blind and declawed. I had a crippled cat because her original owner took her in to a vet to have her stop clawing furniture. He cut the tendon on the back of her front legs-which made her feet useless. I took her in when her owner (not the mean one) died. She had giant eyes, so I named her Bette Davis. She was 21 years old. She lived her last year happily.

Found out ours has this after we got her from an abandoned litter at 4 weeks old. So did everything we can and she is our special girl. I'm guessing she is mildly affected as she does want a little independace and goes out, fortunately we live down a quieter dead end road and the neighbours know about this or have even asked me about her, so I have explained her situation, (however I do keep a good eye on her whereabouts) she doesn't go far (on our driveway or in neighbours bushes) Looking back I also had another kitten with this when I was a little girl ( another stray mummy cat we bought home to have her kittens then left!) Although this was before information was available on cellebrular hypoplasia, so we just went with it amd thought she was a special needs cat, now I'm reassured by all information that my girl doesn't suffer or know any different and thankfully will not get any worse, just makes her more special, extra spoilt and beautiful, always mummy's little baby ❤️

We have alot of ferrel cats. One of the female cat had 5 kittens. They are between 4 & 6 weeks old. All are beautiful. One has CH. Id never heard of it but knew something was wrong with it. I thought his mama had abandoned it because it was always to itsself and when it moved i knew it was something major. It would try to take a step and it would fall over on its side. Went and bought some milk replacement for it and started bottle feeding it and it ate pretty good. When i seen Mommy cat laying diwn, i carried the kitten to her and mama kitty just laid back, i helped it get a nopple and it went to town nursing. Mama kitty was bathing her kitten, i was so happy that mama kitty hadnt abandoned it. For two days i gave her the milk replacement and when mama kitty laid down, id carry kitten over and help it get to nursing. I was very concerned about the kitten, so i called my vet and made an appointment. The day was was suppose to carry it i got scared that vet may want to put it to sleep. I was scared but wanted to know what the issue was and if it was suffering. Vet explained it had CH but it could lead a normal healthy life. I was so relieved that putting it to sleep was never mentioned. So i brought baby home fed it and continue to let it nurse from time to time. Right now its still living outside, its too young to take away from mama & siblings. Can it function out side ok with HC? I would love to have it inside but i already have too many inside. They all are fixed. And my hearts broke fir keeping it outside. I will do all i can for him and since named him Weebles. My family loves him!

I have a wobbly cat named Willow along with a few other special needs cats. But Willow is a sweet and loving cat. She is happy and plays with her sister. I did have to change things around to help her and in doing so the blind cats were happier too. I’m about to move and will be making a cat wall for her and the boys that are blind so that they can still climb up high and perch at the new place.

Ive been fostering for 10 years. Recently I was given a very sick 4 weeks old kitten that I noticed had trouble walking. At 6 weeks he was diagnosed with CH. It seemed moderate at first but as he grows it has become severe. His biggest problem is eating. He head moves so much it hard for him to eat. It nice to read the comments because I was wondering who would actually adopt him because he might need a lot of care.

My kitten is about 5 months old. He ran around fine for about 3 months. He never climbed trees, but could jump up on my desk. He and his sister were rescue kittens. Now over the past 2 weeks, he really has started to wobble quite severely. He always had a very strange meow, not like any cat I’ve ever heard, but now he can’t meow at all. He tries, but no sound comes out. He has the best food, and water all throughout the day. He was losing weight even though he was eating a lot, so I wormed him with Drontal from the vet, and he started putting on weight, but he is still wobbling. The local vet says he has never heard of a wobbling cat, so I haven’t taken my cat Oliver to him. And advice would be helpful
