The bear claws the Rabid Heavy has equipped are a real ingame melee weapon you can use as Heavy -- The Warrior's Spirit: +30% melee damage; +50 health restored on melee kill; +30% damage taken from all sources while active (does not apply while using your primary or secondary weapons, just melee). The steak that Engineer gives Heavy is also an ingame secondary weapon Heavy can use -- The Buffalo Steak Sandvich: Does not heal when consumed, only heals when thrown to teamates. For 16 seconds after consumption, *you may only use your melee,* you move very slightly faster than all classes other than Medic and Scout, deal 35% more damage and take 20% more damage from all sources. The weapons are obviously meant to be used together, making you deal 114 damage instead of your usual 65. This is, unfortunately, not enough to one-shot light classes (125hp), so it doesn't see to much use in most gamemodes where people just shoot you down, now that your health is effectively 200 (unless you snuck up on someone as the slowest class in the game, at which point just play Spy). It does, however, see use in Medival Mode (a gamemode where all weapons that aren't "medival" can't be equipped, e.g. any at all firearms or australium-tech like the Spy's cloak). This combo boasts the title of the highest melee damage you can do, and so it reigns supreme in a gamemode where Melee is king. It also sees use in Mann vs Machine, where you won't use it until you need to destroy a Tank -- an enemy that can't attack but still slowly rolls towards your base to drop a bomb, soaking up damage with an enourmous health pool. Your Minigun deals an absolutely *embearassing* 75% less damage to the Tank (because it's a Tank), so you just turn *barbearic* and claw it open *bear-handed,* invalidating the 50% damage vulnerability that you *bear,* fighting against something that can *bearly* even damage you if you stand in it's path. You mentioned vastly imbalanced teams, and that's the last use for these weapons -- teams that are winning by a long shot usually start switching to increasingly comical weapon loadouts to style on their foes and level the playing field, (especially on famously "friendly" maps like 2fort,) and the Hibernating Bear weapon set is just one of those loadouts. *"Who needs bread?"* - The Buffalo Steak Sandvich description text.
