Meet The Birds | Zorro the Striated Caracara

This is the third episode in a mini-series, introducing you to some of the birds I work with.
Introducing my oldest bird that I currently work with. She is now 33 years old and could live to be 40. Zorro takes the easy life, spending most of her day laying in the sun and watching the world go by.

This video might have been the most satisfying one yet, for me anyway. The zoo where I used to work specialized in taking in retired showbiz animals, and older zoo animals that the 'big zoos' no longer wanted on display because they aren't as impressive, or cooperative, as display animals. I have a special place in my heart for those critters with sore hips, and cantankerous personalities. Love that you are not only showing a beautiful old lady on screen, but actually featuring her.

One of the many aspects I love about birds, including birds of prey is their keen intelligence. One of the many reasons I go out and seek to watch them. Where I live we get to see Buzzards every single day, soaring in the sky, wonderful to watch. Birds are beautiful and precious to this planet, long may they live and that we live to see them.

Stunning bird, the striations are just beautiful. It brought back a memory of visiting Eddie Hare when the Raptor Centre was at Chilam Castle in Kent back in 1985/6 and we had the pleasure of flying a Verreaux's Eagle and that was an experience of a lifetime, a beautiful majestic raptor. ❤️

lol im 70 and sometimes when im sitting around i think,"what a long strange trip its been" . maybe she does also. btw there are people on youtube who talk to animals. they say its done with sending mental pictures. that would be fun.
