I got my first boxer when I was in college and still living at home. My mom was not enthused about my decision. She was quickly won over by Major's antics and expressive face. We sadly lost him due to cancer. Since then she has had four other family boxers and fostered another. She has since helped start the Boxer Rescue Foundation. Run a search with Google and check it out. Her fawn boy Jager is credited as being the founder. GREAT DOGS!

My first boxer "George" was a rescue and had been iltreated to the point his bottom jaw was twisted so his tongue was always out.... but he was such a fantastic dog...so protective of the wife and kids... and he really enjoyed rough an tumble with dad (me), the expressions he used to have were fantastic, we could tell how he felt by looking at his face.... I lost him to cancer at the age of 9, and i miss him soo much

I had one...he just passed away 2 months ago :( They are great dogs!! Very funny and goofy! They are great with kids and also protective :) Treat them well and love them! They will return the love!

I have owned 2 Boxers, the first one being a fawn male, and my current Boxer, a brindle female. I've always loved Boxers, there very passionate and lovable! I would recommend a Boxer to anyone.

In a college speech class in the seventies, I had found a book that had everything on boxers...it was THE book back then...and there was a section on how the ears are trimmed, etc. In speech classes you have different assignments, descriptive, etc. So I decided to do a speech on just how the ears get clipped, as I am in the same camp as you are. The trick was I did it completely straight..no attitude, no opinion, just lay it on them and let them see it for what it is. I got what I wanted...

Seriously, I had two boxers and if someone broke into our house, they would bark like mad but would not bite anyone. The gate to our backyard fence was open once and my dog just barked and barked until we came outside and closed it. They just love people. I miss mine.

Boxers are, as said, really loyal dogs, and they are extremely protective with children, really useful dogs if you have children, since they won't let ANYBODY touch them. It's a strongly recommendable dog, although as I said I'm a big fan of GSD.

Boxers are the best, I have had 3 so far and just had to put my oldest one down he was almost 13 and had no health issues untill 3 months ago he started having sezers once a month then in May he had 4 sezers and he was walking into walls nothing but bad stuff so I had to do the right thing even though it ripped my heart out and I still have his buddy my 4 year old Boxer, we always use EUK dry mixed with chicken or chopped beef.

My cousin had a boxer named "Buddy" when I was a kid (havent seen him for 5 year so don't know if Buddy's still alive). But I remember that Buddy was the best dog to have around,when someone was upset or sad. He'd pick right up on it and would be their best friend. I wish I had my own boxer! :(

I've had Boxers for 30 years..and they are the 6th mbest dog in the world..They need to run and play at least 2 times and day and get the enregy out of their system ... verrry important....but after the 2yr. grown-up they're great.easy to train too..smart doy and want to please you ..you just need patients..just like raising kids..

My childhood boxer was such a crazy, loving clown that the family developed a whole new vocabulary just to describe her antics! For example: Full frisk = The dogs barks and sometimes "talks" (sounds like a bizarre howl that might lead up to a bark, especially if you ignored her. -- see "Arguing" video by angelshark). Meanwhile, she prances about and snorts wildly. The "full frisk" would occur if you indicated you were going for a walk or were going somewhere in the car With Her. The infamous "wag" or "horseshoe" greeting. The longer you had been away, the greater and longer the "wag." The docked tail ( a 2-inch nub) would go full speed and she would arch her body sideways like a U or horseshoe. This greeting would get intense with accompanied "talking" or even barking if you had been away a long time. New visitors were also given a standard 2-minute wag. If you made ooohing sounds or jumped around, you might be lucky and increase the intensity. If in full frisk or full wag, she would box and jump up on you with the full intention of licking your face.

+NP4Mayans , great explanation! We call our Boxer's full speed nub wag as her "happy meter". LOL The happier she is the faster it wags. This one is our 3rd. They are the best dogs we have ever had, and we have had lots of dogs and all were well loved and they were all great dogs, but the Boxers were the smartest and the best companions. That is our opinion.

My boxer developed osteosarcoma, which was misdiagnosed by two vets. When it was finally diagnosed it was too late to amputate her leg. Her death was so tragic that I know that I can never own one again. I'm used to field line golden retrievers which live 13 to 15 years (at least the lines I've been dealing with). I'm not willing to lose a dog after such a short life again.

I started to say that I feed my dogs a raw diet, but every time I do, I get people telling me I will give my dog worms and all sorts of other nonsense. And I have never heard anyone else mention that dogs don't cook their food. I love that, good point. And my boxers are both healthy, glossy and gorgeous. Their vet keeps asking me what I feed them, but I know better than to tell him.

boxers are amazing! i love rocco and macy.. they're amazing dogs xD both of the dogs have such a unique personality its crazy.. my dog macy gets jealous when you pet rocco, she'll get in your face and start barking and rocco is a wimp.. he won't get into any fights at all and he'd rather play with a ball than other dogs xD

To morton, i have had boxers all my life and i love them because they are 1 of the few breeds that have character and are pleasant - certainly not because they look aggressive. If anyone actually knows the boxer they should know that boxers are 1 of the least aggressive breeds around people and other animals!!! Good vidio, best breed of dog for active people. Beware; they are puppy's for about 4-14 year's ;-)... Cheap dog food though, these dogs need a special diet to reach their full size. Puppy training and socializing is essential, boxers can become very over-protective. Do NOT allow them around strange dogs. If they are attacked badly enough, they will become dominant in nature and strike first at bigger, friendly dogs.

Bought my boxer from an Add in the papper named him Bosco loved him to death lived a LONG and happy life and died in my care with me beside him.I agree with NOT Cropping thier ears.I dont know about the specifics of show wether or not judges perfer it or not but if its just a "family" dog I see no real reason to have to crop the ears! However I Bosco's tail was already docked.Never seemed to bother him and he was ALWAYS happy!To be quiet honest I grew quiet fond of him wagging his little nub!

i have a half boxer and rodesian ridgeback so even more hyper but he also weighs last we actually did a test and my pup can hit 35mph the rodesian is basically a african grey hound that was used for killing a lion by itself

don't get mad at me. i think boxers have a sort of ugly face but at the same time i find them so beautiful! i absolutely luv it when my boxer leans out the car window and his lips flap in the wind.
