Recently I went to MEC here in Ottawa Canada to shop. I brought my Travoy inside. When I got to the bike section, the guy there, who actually does know bikes, asked me, "Nice cart. Where did you get it?" "Here. And it's not just a cart it's a bike trailer." "Oh" I am not sure why these are not ubiquitous. This is the best (lightweight) bike trailer in the world.

I bought one to use with my non-Burley seat mounted trailer (with a little modification to the latter) and it is so much better than hitches requiring a tool as it is quick release. I've been considering ordering one of these for a while now. Just browsed your channel a bit, you have good content. I've not owned a car now for over 20 years. This trailer looks like a good addition for me! I build custom canoe and kayak paddles. One of the things I'd use this for is riding out to FedEx to ship paddles worldwide. Mounted to the rear rack on one of my bikes with the rack adaptor gives a nice extension and I should be able to transport the longer one piece kayak paddles that way. Subscribed!

@@BikeShopGirl Hi, yes I know the old Carry bag also served as a lower clip on luggage bag. But the old frame did not have fixed wheel guards which the new model has. But you could buy and fit them. But removing the attaching swivel clips from the bag condems it to a carry bag only. I will try searching out the Swivel Clip Buckles AGAIN, failing that will email Burley, I live in the UK. The stand is an improvement, as I assume the extender towing arm is. As do you, I like the removable hitch, I have 2 Bromptons and a Mezzo folding bike so it's a great facility. How does the seat post hitch compare with a hitch that attaches near the rear axle in terms of the effect on the bicycle’s handling? Years ago we had a Burley child trailer, with a hitch that attached to the left side frame, very near the rear axle. Except for the extra load from the trailer, it seemed to have almost no effect on bike handling.
@BikeShopGirl4 жыл бұрын
You can feel it more but the weight limit on this is also lower for that reason. This is my preference if I'm 1. needing to transport the trailer with stuff on it 2. riding in traffic as it is much higher and closer to my rear end than a normal cargo trailer.

What happened to the follow-up report with the cargo bags ? This gives me concerns that the Travoy might have problems, and when all is said and done, might not be worth the money as a complete Travoy with 2 Grocery Cargo packs and rain cover is north of $500 US as of 2/16/2022. Case in point: I've have gone thru 3 Travoy flex connectors, fragile if the Travoy flips sideways when trying to turn a tight turn too fast. Definitely buy several to have on hand, because this is a common situation, esp. when first using a Travoy in my personal experience. A more complete review is warranted, -- esp. at the current going prices. Thank you for all your reviews, take care out there, JP

Thank you for this review! I was eyeballing this for months 😬 (I ordered it three weeks ago and hope that it will arrive soon). I really like the update on the seatpost connection as I own a Tern Vektron P9 which sometimes needs to be folded completely. Me again :D Finally the trailer arrived and it is an absolute delight! The joints absorb every pothole and make sure that the trailer runs steady. For now, I probably wouldn’t need an extra bag, as I’ll use an outdoor duffle-bag or the storage bag for the trailer with a cargo net. On the face of it, there won’t be a retailer who sells the new bags at all in Germany- but nevertheless if you get the chance to test e.g. the new market bags, I‘d really like to see them, especially their interior :) Nice regards!

Interesting my older Travoy was really unstable on my Dahon Speed 8, without problems on larger bikes. The Tern Vektron P9 has a longer wheelbase because of the battery and that may have accounted for the differences in handling. I have on the older model. It's a good way to take/pick up a another bike from a bike shop. ride the Brompton towing the Travoy one way, haul the brompton on the Travoy , towing it with the other bike the other way. One may need to be a bit careful strapping Brompton on so that it doesn't rub on the Travoy wheels
@whazzat80154 жыл бұрын
1) brompton says no to trailers. Noted in the user guide. 2) they are too wide to fit between the wheels, but can be strapped on as jay implies 3) but then the load is high and if the trailer flips, you find out about it by the sound your brommie makes grinding down the road on its side. Most people learn trailer load balancing the hard way.

@@effluvium9 ambitious/insane, tomato/tomahto. I assume you mean a nominal 40' extension ladder that is "only" 20' when the two section are nested together. If I felt a need to do that, and the route allowed, I'd strap a pneumatic tire hand truck/dolly to one end of the ladder, If one only had a Travoy I suppose one could use it, but a hand truck is cheaper and probably stronger. I'd then strap the other end of the ladder to the back of one of my longtails. If it was a light aluminum ladder and one has a sturdy rear rack that might do too, but I think I'd prefer a cargo bike.

Does it carry 24pk bottled water, from the grocery store?
@BikeShopGirl3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it would, how much does that weigh?
@Murderbot20003 жыл бұрын
@@BikeShopGirl I’m sure it will handle the weight. It’s the dimensions, the wheelbase and depth, that I’m unsure of. Otherwise, I’m seriously considering getting this. I’m trying to go car free, this summer.

@@philippesimonot4900 Hello! Please visit our Dealer Locator (linked at end) to see if there are any Burley Dealers in your area. We would recommend contacting the shop in advance, as not all shops carry our full lineup. They should, however, be able to also special order through Wiener Bike Parts (our distributor in France). We hope that helps! www.burley.com/store-locator/

David, I would check out their cargo trailer, it is much lower and would handle that type of weight much better. I also worked with many hunters in NC for trailers on their fat bikes and the Surly trailers ended up being the most reliable AND customizable.

@BikeShopGirl3 жыл бұрын
That's true, a kids trailer holds more too BUT the size and ability to pull it by hand behind you in a store is pretty amazing. I've checked it into an overhead compartment on a plane, that is pretty neat if you need it!
