The Sun Tzu quote in Meet the Soldier is actually correct, and he quotes him correctly again in one of his in-game lines.. From his domination lines against Sniper and when looking for Merasmus, it can be inferred that he has read Tolkien but misremembers the name of every character, while very occasionally remembering Bilbo's correctly. He knows cyclops come from Greek mythology. Soldier's mind is a short collection of accurate knowledge flimsily held together by an endless vortex of worthless, verifiably wrong junk. I have a feeling Harry would be endlessly fascinated by him should they ever meet.

Problem: NZ is underwater in the tf2 canon, the first LOTR movie was released in 2001, and _not even Sniper_ knew he was a Kiwi when the game takes place...
