There is mandatory military service for women and men in the State of Israel. I think that refusing is wrong because it is clear that the country needs the army and without the army Israel will not survive here surrounded by Arab countries that are not satisfied with our existence as a Jewish state here. I refused to serve in the occupied territories and protect the setlements, but I did serve as a medic at the Gaza borde, and I am proud of it. my family now sending money to my family's friends in Deir al-Balah, they hate Hamas and hope that the war will end when Hamas no longer rules there. The war, even if it is difficult, is against Hamas and not against the Gazans.

There are only two that refused to obey the initial draft altogether. Tal Mitnick (the other objector) has said to Amy Goodman from Democracy Now, that many deserters who leave once they see the battlefield, have also gone to jail. They just don’t realize that what they’ve been told is false until they see for themselves. Many of the soldiers know exactly what they’re doing, but some go in honestly thinking they’re the good guys until they see what their side is doing up close. Some of those people who wake up in the battlefield / military op rooms, and then desert, are in jail now. Meital Yaniv is one of the women who left after she served for a while and woke up to what is happening. She’s living in Los Angeles now to avoid being jailed in Israel, and she’s part of Jewish Voices foe Peace

One of my great-great grandparents, a Quaker, was jailed for refusing to fight in World War I. He and other conscientious objectors suffered in prison, under horrible conditions that would now be considered illegal under international law. I pass no judgement on those Israelis who feel it is their duty to protect their country at such terrible times in history (like one great-great uncle of mine, who died in a German gas attack in the trenches), but I also have great respect for those who refuse to participate in wars due to the honest and sincere dictates of their consciences. I hope this family are happy and feel safe again.

That would be stupid because Palestinians (also known is Israeli Arabs) also live INSIDE Israel (not just West Bank and Gaza) and go to the same universities, shopping, live in the same buildings, etc. Inside Israel they are neighbors and coexist. They hang out together on weekends, and though less common, marry each other. Everyone knows it, including Israeli Arabs. Israeli Arabs serve VOLUNTARILY in the IDF...and there are many. Israeli Arabs are politicians and judges. They go to the same schools. To say Israelis are "groomed" from a young age to hate Palestinians is a blatant lie. Go there and see for yourself. I am not Israeli. I'm not Jewish. But I have seen for myself that Israel is possibly the most diverse and possible tolerant country on the planet considering all of the extremist in the middle east. But there are other ways to defend one's country, such as treating the wounded, for example. This activity does not involve the use of weapons, but it does require courage that this person clearly does not have.

Oh, how it reminds me the situation in Russia🤕... After 02. 24.22( the day of Russian z-army invasion to Ukraine) a lot of Russians approved this criminal war against Ukraine and even there were real nazists among them, who wished Ukraine to be destroyed, or like "there is no nation like Ukranians, they are all Russians and we will conquer all Ukraine" And so on... And now 2 years later after being hit on a muzzle Russians wants the war to end. But, unfortunately we, Russians now are occupying ~20% pf Ukrainian territory. And all like me who are against this occupation of Ukraine and against war with Ukraininans - all we are called "traitors" by compatriots. So I really feel bad for Ukrainians and Palestinians.
