Silver eagle73 Bro, yes it's more complex, but the engineering and manufacturing processes have also immproved immensly. New cars are much more reliable than cars made even 10 yrs ago much less 50. I'm sure they can also immprove the reliability of these trucks.

@dimitrovbmw6 жыл бұрын
Puff, more reliable, I doubt it, new stuff is made with cheaper and cheaper material, that brakes more and more, plastic instead of glass, or metal, cheap connection that start to leak after few years in service, cheap seals and gaskets made from cheap material so they can break easy and make you pay for parts. cheap interior made from cheap material that starts to fade. I know guy who still drives his 98 volvo VED 12 380hp over 2 mil miles with no rebuild. His headlights are made from glass no BS plastic that burns off in 2 years. He don't drive on the snow so the truck still clean from heavy rust, this truck barely has any problems. I doubt you will be able to do that in 2018 volvo.

Lol those skirts will last about 10 min in WY with 70 mph winds ..they will either be blown off or become part of the big wall for a gust to hit and that piece of junk will be laying on its side out in a ditch ..they design these trucks with only a head wind ,full east and west wind is never considered ..every trip ,I encounter more wind from the side than anything ..creating a big huge wall cannot be good for anything but normal conditions with little wind ..also snow and ice buildup on all the extra panels will create a massive amount of extra weight. no dout in my mind the all the frozen overspray will build up on the inside of these panels and this pos will become a huge block of ice

First winter and this truck would be a pile of scrap. Camara for side mirrors are you kidding me with that garbage. Anything man made will fail and with the way electronics are made these days (disposable) you lose a Camara and your shutdown buddy. You might as well be watching a movie on your cell phone while driving down the road. Just like those who are in office and never once stepped foot in truck thinks they know what's best because a computer model told them so.
@philipbrodermann68675 жыл бұрын
So many comments missing the mark. It's a concept truck. If you listened, Dean Oppermann (the narrator got his name wrong) said; 'Super-truck has been a great platform for us to develop a number of interesting technologies.' This demonstrates the companies ability to research and develop technology that could be useful in the future. It's not a commercial product. Calm down.

telli707 how many truckers can reduce the drag coeffiencent to what this truck has? I agree some of this is stupid (like the skirt going over the tandems) but this is a proof of concept to get a baseline of how efficient they can actually get, and Idk about you but an extra 2000 lbs=more money in your pocket, just like a higher MPG... at the end of the day THATS what truckers want, more $$$... i wouldnt compain with higher visibility either with the cameras and (I'm assuming) windows behind the door into the sleeper
@caseysawyer60816 жыл бұрын
Well going by what I'm reading along the lines of grammar and spelling I'm gonna conclude that there's a severe lack of intellect required to design anything let alone a truck that reduces drag and increases efficiency among the trucking industry
@EternalMars6 жыл бұрын
Times are changing the current trucks might good be atm but the amount of carbon and shit like that it lets out is killing the earth. Also this truck would be able to go faster and carry twice as much meaning it's more efficient and racks in more money for truckers

First off I would like see this truck work in a tight city like Miami. It'll be beat all to hell and back. Can't wait. Not all of that tech will be released all at once. Will be interesting to see how it's deployed. The cameras will be fine. If you have an electrical failure big enough for them to fail, you've got big enough issues that you shouldn't be on the road anyway. As for the looks... who cares. we all know what opinions are like. Besides, a fleet owners favorite color is green... $$$$. That truck is a money maker. Enough people will love that truck that it will be a non issue. Personally, I love it and can't wait for it.
@magnificenthonky6 жыл бұрын
You like the camera pods, do ya? Wait until one gets knocked off at the truck stop; you'll be missing the classic west coast mirrors, that are still for sale inside, for far cheaper. Some of that unnecessary junk on that truck fails? Yeah, you can probably keep moving old school; no biggie. But, there's probably a bunch of unnecessary junk that can fail with catastrophic results. Take my truck; the computer decides to change gears, it sends a signal to a robot arm, which shifts the truck. Sound good? What happens when a little moisture causes a little glitch, and the computer tries to jam it in reverse, while you are navigating an icy, curvy downgrade? Every new truck comes with more features that force control away from the driver, and the scarier they become to pilot through inclement weather. It's nonsense, it's not safe, and should not be road legal.

GreenJeep1998 It will not be helpful dude, guys are out here buying all these new technology rigs has them breakdown on them and the manufacturer and mechanics have no clue what's wrong because everything is in to much technology. This truck is being designed with self-driving technology in mind I bet. The more shit they tie into the electronics, the more shit they can leave to automated systems. But as people are pointing out, this truck is way more finesse then practical for the rugged roads/job sites. Now a few decades from now when we've finally started to overhaul our infrastructure to accommodate all of these technological advances in vehicles, this truck would be nice to have.

Wayne Dearman So, what? Who cares about the truck’s appearance when it’s making you 10’s of thousands of dollars extra every year.

Great. But will the head be pre-cracked from the foundry, like the Maxx-Force 13?

That is pure ugly lol dont even look like a Truck 😂 we need to just go back and come back out with Cabovers and old school Trucks just a bit of Technology in them, these things look like Aliens have brought them to our planet! Please stop making these.
@DudMan21116 жыл бұрын
those cabovers have ZERO aerodynamics in them...I mean they look cool, but efficiency wise they're retarded.
@TT.4_6 жыл бұрын
Race Krasser I'm pretty sure we can make Cabovers get better efficient! It's called going in to change things to make it better.

Tesla semi is crap too. Cramped cabin with a seat in the middle. Its a truck not some kinda space pod. No mirrors just a FEW cameras and low travel range. Plus its gonna be heavier than a regular truck which means reduced payload.

Dewey AI i repeat,,opinions are like assholes,,everyone has them

The Tesla Semi is definitely better than this truck and it's fully electric. Plus Elon Musk said that the truck can exceed 600 miles of range on a single charge at highway speed. And recharge 400 miles of range in just 30 minutes. That to me is much better. 🚚
@jmowreader95556 жыл бұрын
If they're going to replace the mirrors with cameras, they also need to put the cameras at four-wheeler height.

Companies would have to put solar panels on they're boxes and they wouldn't do that to save the driver money.

If you look at the broader picture, it’s basically a cosmeticly new truck and that’s about it

Sam D'Amico Guarantee it doesn't. It's called passive gap treatment. It works just fine for tight turns/backing.
