Our pistons have a stamina problem, if they lock in on defense they cannot sustain it for full game and fall off by the 4th hence why our 4th quarters are so bad. You can tell the guys are super exhausted and are dragging their feet by the end of games. The quick fix is to have depth in the bench to rest the starters or to improve stamina of the starters but that is wishful thinking.
@dariusbrooks212 күн бұрын
They just need to unlearn some of those bad habits and learn to better close these games out. But boy have I actually been excited to see my boys doing better!
@finnmin_2 күн бұрын
I honestly think it's because of how hard they start their games. The starters are giving 100% from the start and no matter how many breathers they get, you can see their shooting break down by the end of the games and the defense becomes spotty. They give it their all and they do it for all 4 quarters which is probably exhausting.
@ddaley6172 күн бұрын
Growing pains man lol This team is in a good place. It's expected they perform badly in the 4th but ultimately they are competing and further along than last year. Just got to stay healthy. Could be a play in team.

totally agree that a lot of it should fall on Stew’s shoulders. i have no idea why he did that last night, & Johnny & Special K both were acting like it was just gonna be a flagrant 1. i knew immediately it was gonna be a flagrant 2 & i knew that we sold the game as soon as it happened. JD was already in foul trouble & he had to play passively on defense the entire game. props to him for even making it through the full game, tbh. i love the “bad boy” attitude but when you’re just straight up suplexing dudes on the court & removing yourself from the game it’s not worth it. we need to be tough & assert dominance on defense but that was too much.

as a fellow die hard stones fan, what I see as a recurring issue is a lack of ability to respond to the intensity of the other teams defense for 6 minute - 10 minute stretches. There is though such a noticeable difference in the energy and how they fight back which is why these games are staying so close, in just 10 games this is the farthest the Pistons have gotten to having an identity/culture since the Dwayne Casey Era began. (they had an identity in the SVG era it was just a bad one where Andre was rapping with kids from Lake Orion and shit)

Knicks fan, the 4th quarter has been terrible for us. We either win in a blowout or let the other team come back after having a solid lead in the 4th. I think this is just growing pains, adding KAT is a huge adjustment for everyone on the court and Thibs it’s not like adding OG who instantly fits into any team. They just have to learn the best way to play together. Also bridges needs to be an elite defensive player and start hitting 3s cause so far he’s been legitimately bad in both categories. He looks far smoother playing with KAT instead of Brunson so I think it’s partly adjusting to his role in the starting lineup

The most frustrating thing about the Pistons is their carelessness with the ball/possessions. Every single game, Cade and Ivey leave their feet and get caught in the air with no shot to take and no one to pass to. EVERY SINGLE GAME. Cade way too often gets stripped when other teams put an actual Small Forward on him instead of a guard. I swear to you I saw Highsmith with cookies about 4 times in the 4Q against the Heat. Poor shot decisions/possessions while we're giving up runs on the other end, let's get something easy at the rim guys? Pull up contested jumpers just prolong our scoring droughts and are a HUGE part in all of our 4Q blown leads.

I grew up playing basketball all the way through high school and then watching basketball for decade after decade. When I was younger I was always told that if you're going to commit a foul under the basket make sure that the guy can't make the shot. If it's a sure basket then foul the guy and stop it from happening and make him prove it on the line. I think the foul by Beef Stew against Giannis was not very flagrant at all. The Greek freak is just acting in a soap opera there on the floor. It wasn't that violent and it was playing tough basketball and trying to stop the guy from getting a free dunk. I can't believe you are going on about it like it was nearly fatal or something. I know you shouldn't do anything that's going to get you a technical/ flagrant but I hate the fact that that got him a flagrant. This is definitely a boomer opinion.😊

If Cade didn't average 5 turnovers and under 5 FTA the team would be more consistent
@jerryalexander88032 күн бұрын
Cades turnovers isn’t why they lose, they have a winning record in games he has 7 or more turnovers they are 3-2. He only had 2 turnovers against the hornets and they lost, he only had 1 turnover against the knicks and they got blew out, only had 2 turnovers against the Pacers, another loss.. When Cade is able to play free is when the Pistons have their best chance of winning even if it comes with a lot of turnovers.. People need to stop crying about the turnovers

As far as the poor whistle, I'm not sure about stats extending into last season, but Cade is apparently averaging 4.1 FTA per game this season, which seems par for the course for most starting caliber guards this season. There are two tiers of outliers, one between 5-6.5 FTA per game (Derozan, Fox, Booker, Mathurin if you count him as a 2 guard, Maxey, Brunson, Cam Thomas for some reason) and the next going up to 7.7 per game (topped by Lillard somehow, Harden, Luka, Shai, Morant, Trae Young). I think it's worth considering that there are plenty of guards who take on contact around the league who aren't featured on this list. I know Ant has been jacking up a lot of 3s so far, but as a contextual datapoint he is only averaging 4.7 FTA per game.
