imo when we talk about a players height we should start primarily using standing reach. Most ways in which “height” is advantageous it’s not actually height that matters it’s reach. The only exception I can think of is seeing over defenders at passing angles.
@felixl.l.2060Ай бұрын
Agreed. And while wingspan is a helpful and good stat, people often equate it with arm length, which it isn't, it's arm length PLUS torso width. So a guy could theoretically have short arms and good wingspan if his chest was broad enough. Standing reach is a way underused stat/way of thinking of these guys.
@legenddaryl537Ай бұрын
its not the height nor wingspan.. its about mentality and effort.. ayton has 9'3 standing reach 4" less than clingan but has 43 max vert compared to clingan who has 29?? ayton has more potential as a defender but the dude is lazy.. one of the worst characteristic of a basketball player is laziness

It isn’t. If a player’s height and wingspan adds up to 6 inches longer, but the other player’s shoulder placement is 6 inches higher, they will have the exact same standing reach.
