We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. kzbin.infoUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.

Just ask the bosses at Wyze if you really want to know the answer - its often the business objective from day1 - get noticed, get bought, repeat. Altruism in wealth is not a modern commodity. If selling the company was their objective would you still buy the product? Their current products are standalone. I should have not bought a Ring or Nest but I did, and they they then sold my data. At least Wyse does not collect data and their products should work long after they move on (to other products or ownership or the round garbage bin in the sky).

This is a totally new form of product advertising that you have just created. It really convinced me, and i really want this product. Very nice to have full disclosure like that, and not only pitching your product (i mean who believes a word coming from a sales guy away) but actually showing the production process, sharing failures, presenting the team behind the company and the product. It just seems so much more honest and more convincing. This is gotta be the future of advertising. Great job there guys! absolutely amazing. @@wyze Is that done by GPS or wifi proximity? Based on what you're saying, I assume the auto-unlock "magic" is in the smartphone app and not in the In-House hardware simply detecting the smartphone? If so, that alleviates my concern which is similar to the OP in that if I am in my house, and the door is locked, and I go out in the back yard, and disconnect from WiFi, will it unlock when I re-enter my house (through a DIFFERENT door).. I can think of different edge cases regarding handling geo-fencing in this regard, such as if I come home, and enter the geofenced area through my garage, will the front door open?
@wyze
@wyze 4 жыл бұрын
@@SteveJones172pilot Auto-unlock feature requires two stages in order for it to work. Your smartphone's Bluetooth needs to be connected to the Wyze Lock and your (A-GPS) location needs to be inside the geofenced area that you have setup. If you never left the radius of the geofenced area (150m, 160 yards), your Wyze Lock will not auto-unlock again.

Looks like a company I would love to work for. Just starting the journey into their products. So far, not disappointed. And videos like this show their commitment to quality, affordable and relevant consumer tech. And the affordability factor shows that you can build in quality and functionality (and I mean bells and whistles) without major compromises. I mean, how many times have we all spent a buttload of money on a tech product and be disappointed by the functionality cost factor???

At the National Home Builders show last January I asked a couple of the largest lock companies if they would introduce a lock that unlocked as I approached the door. Both had excuses for why they didn't have such a product. It seemed so intuitive and I knew the technology existed (at least in theory; execution is certainly the challenge). So hats off to Wyze! I love this thing and I think it’s extra handy for people who rent their houses because you can add this without changing the actual deadbolt key, which could violate the lease. And the auto lock technology is genius. I have to admit, I had low expectations for this at first because I figured it would be harder to make an affordable smart lock and maintain up-to-date technology standards, especially without having a way for it to know if the door is open or closed. But you guys did it. I don’t feel so bad now for missing out on the black friday smart lock deals from other companies now.

I think before I buy the lock I will look into it to make sure it gets some good reviews. I noticed 3 stars on the camera and my guess is the notifications is too slow and possibly the distance is the clarity could be better. On both wired & WiFi.

I can imagin you guys could build a plate that would allow it to be attached right with the front side of the deadbolt without having to drill any holes and that could keep it secure from people trying to steal it. I also want to know if it will still work if your internet is down. This issue came up for me with another smart lock which when the internet was down, made it not possible to unlock with the app. would the number pad require internet to unlock the lock? Can the keypad be set up with different password/pin codes to lock and unlock? Does the lock or the keypad moitor the state of charge of the batteries? so you can be notified when the batteries are getting low?

So I just installed the new Wyze smart lock and keypad and I love it! I also have the Wyze door senors, wyze plugs, wyze camera's and wyze LED bulbs with that being said I believe in this company. One thing that I thought about that would be a great feature in the wyze app is to make the cameras compatible with some kind of face ID. So when you walk up to your door you just look into your wyze cam and it would unlock the door! Idk thought that would be great for people with the wyze home setup and it would save them a lil money on not having to pay for a keypad from the jump, just some food for thought's.

Has the lock been tested in a condo building?. I live in a 60 story building. Various folks have installed the August Pro lock and have found that it does not properly auto lock and unlock when they roam inside the building. Presumably because of the vertical nature of the building and the use of GPS for detection.

Love the product growth! And huge kudos for putting in the "is this closed" sensor as that has always killed me for the 'auto lock' features that are timer based that would engage while the door was open or as it was closing and dent the frame. Sadly, this August style lock isn't for us, the #1 feature we must have is pin pad as the ease of use and lack of key (no bumping) is requirement. Smart features are a + but don't match convenience and simplicity of pin pad without a key. Hoping you guys look at product like Yale's models (or just have a pin pad front for this back instead of separate pin pad). Only other thing is any of these automatic locks have a problem as lots of folks doors don't line up perfectly with the deadbolt hole anymore, especially ones that would be retrofits. I got one for my sister and they can only lock it when they are pulling on the door slightly or it hits the edge so a lot of the benefit is gone without some notable surgery on the frame.

I have installed and used several smart lock systems in entrance doors. They all suffer from a nearly unsolvable issue that it does not look like Wyze addressed either. That issue is the weather striping. In articular, a properly installed entrance deadbolt does not rattle loosely centered in its strike hole, rather it firmly holds the door against compressed weather striping. What this means for the motorized lock is that when the door is to be opened, it needs to overcome the friction torque to slide open. This can be overcome with a strong motor & gearing, but the real problem is encountered when the door is closed and then the deadbolt is told to lock. In this case the bolt tries to move but hits the strike on the frame, unless the door is simultaneously forcibly compressed by the user (which they do not do). This leaves the door in an error state or simply unlocked. So far the only solution to this that is have seen, is to have the motor removed from the smart lock and thus require the user to rotate the bolt with a knob or an RFID like key instead, where they can compress the weatherstrip during the lock/unlock event. It is lower cost and more reliable, but i have yet to see companies adopt this design change.
@WillieStubbs
@WillieStubbs 4 жыл бұрын
Just under $90 is a good price point for that kind of capability. I would have liked to have seen the actual install. Are the two screws that hold the outside keyed deadbolt hidden under that rectangular grey box? And it could have been made of plastic since it is on the inside of the house. Now you just need to match all those typical finishes, chrome, satin nickle, black, gold, etc. Will it retrofit to Schlage, Kwikset and all the others out there?

The door in the video, like so many doors today, has a side glass. With the traditional deadbolt, once it’s locked, someone breaks the glass (from the outside) and puts his hand through, it is not possible to unlock the door from the inside (unless you leave the key in the lock, which you don't when you're not home). I might be wrong but is seems to me that all the “smart” locks are vulnerable to this pretty ”dumb” break in method. Break the glass from the outside, stick you hand in, push/turn the thumb turn and the door is unlocked. Am I missing something or is it actually that unsafe?

I really want to use a smart lock for my garage entry door. Your current product seems to be tailored to the front entry door, just like rest of the competition. I hope you realize that people want to use this for garage entry door as well. You can make your product functional for that use case, just by making software updates and allow it to be configured for either front door or Garage entry door. My kids will go out to the garage all the time when we are home, I wouldn’t want to lock them out. But when I’m leaving home (opening and closing my garage overhead door), I want the garage entry door it to auto lock. Hope you are listening. Love your products!

So do we just put your lock on top of what’s already on the door? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I wanted to see how that actual installation works.

By guys. How does it handle... Idk how to phrase it... multiple door opening directions? A door opening from the right VS one from the left? You put the lock upside down? Just curious as it may be a deal-breaker. Looks fun and good though. Congrats!

So. As a Crime Scene Investigator, I'll point out that your device has the same shortcoming as every other smartlock on the market. It doesn't take a key on the inside. If you have a door with a window in it, you've just made it really easy for a burglar to bypass the lock. I'd love to have a smart lock, but I need one that takes a key on the inside as well.

They're really ran by the Chinese. AI is by Chinese as is their investor.. you will be fine, they will simply slowly push out the American influence over time. Currently they're building trust by showing Americans mainly flanked by Chinese born employees and then eventually pluck out those Americans to become purely Chinese except a spokesman that remains a white, male that they completely control.

This is perfect ! Just what I have been wanting. I’m always stressing about my door(s) being locked. Now I can control them from my phone. And keep unwanted people from coming in. Especially since my girls are teens now. 😳

Looks fantastic! Question on auto lock: if you have kids that frequently go in and out of the home...does the device lock the door behind them once they leave and close the door; locking the kids outside?
@wyze
@wyze 4 жыл бұрын
It would depend on how long the kids go outside. The Auto-Lock delay selections range from Instantaneous to 10 minutes. If the kids are going to be out longer than 10 minutes, you can turn this feature off altogether. We're targeting Q1 2020 for releasing the keypad, as another option in the future!

the problem with Wyze, they always team up with companies that fuck them over in the future and the customers are the ones that get hit with it ( IE Motion sensor) , LOCKIN is the bottom-feeder oem lock company , google them. The best smart lock is still Schlage Z-Wave Connect Century Touchscreen Deadbolt with Built-In Alarm

As previous poster wrote seems to be alot of situations it will accidental unlock, plus Bluetooth AND gps seems like a major fail. Most people don't keep all the radios on your cell especially at home (battery). I could see you turning your gps off and then on and it would look like you came home again?

Sensors, cameras, and what not basically all serve the same purpose. Instead of just being notified when something is awry. I would love a wyze door and/or window alarm for the extra security. It will serve as a deterrent instead of something that can solely be used as evidence. Cameras alone might make some feel emboldened knowing you have something in the house being protected by those cameras. An alarm would run most of those people off although i'm sure there are some that would still want what they came for

It looks awesome! I wish you guys had come to market before I bought my August lock late last year and had to DIY drill another hole on my door (which wasn't without problems, since my door has a metal layer in it) to make it fit. My August lock works fine (most of the time), but I would definitely have gone with yours if I had the choice back then.

I asked this question on the app too. I’ve been a customer since you first started. “Ok. Not sure if this has been asked. I’m playing Devil’s advocate here: what if a woman’s purse has been stolen in an airport. She lives alone and didn’t share her wyze app info with anyone. Her phone and her ID with her address are in purse. She has a wyze lock which has that auto feature. The thieves go to her house knowing she’ll be gone a while since she was flying out. They basically have free range inside her home. Is there a vacation mode set up that can prevent such things from happening with possible a password to set up and deactivate so the thieves don’t have access to that feature?”
