I will never forget what happened to me 6 years back when I went to take my village girl at night, at around 11pm on a field near a river a night runner passed between us like a wind twice. My girl really urinated on her clothes, she was shaking, she became dumb and deaf, and started talking a day after. These people have demonic powers. THere was not even space btw us but he managed to pass btw us, as from that day my girl never wanted me to bring her home at night.

BBC Africa does not portray Africa in a negative but brings out what really needs to be known to the world, you can't always portray Africa positively becuase we all know there are many things wrong, which the world an mostly other AFRICANS need to know/learn about. I personally think BBC Africa is doing the job not many other news companies are willing to do, actually showing what is going in Africa.

I’ve experienced night runners when I went to the village. Someone threw sand or water on the roof and a few rocks. I was scared to the core. I already had knowledge it existed from my childhood but experiencing it is a different story. It is quite possible that the night runners in this film were already known and agreed to be filmed with their identity hidden/ with clothes. That being said we can’t discredit the whole thing because they were clothed. The ones in kisii might be different than those in western or in Luoland.

This is a historic documentary! I got educated about this mysterious practice that I have always heard about, but never experienced proof of. I think this is a form of dark entertainment, and those who practice it derive some form of mental and physical thrills, which gradually become an addiction. I was pleased to see the young female addict seek treatment from a traditional healer, at a fee. There is a cheaper psychological treatment to such problems - modern religion.

I remember one experience when I was in Maseno University. Goodness gracious me! I had never been to Western side of Kenya so that was my first time living there. So one day I am sleeping with my window open because the temperatures at night were too high. Then I wake up from what I thought was a bad dream and there's someone poking my bed with a stick and a bright flashlight to my face. I screamed and the person kept poking me and I immediately left the bed to make sure the door was well closed. The most shocking thing to me was that even as I kept screaming, this person just kept poking at me. I have never felt that insecure and vulnerable. Meeen! That was a horrible experience for me. The person then left cz my screams were too high. He/she left the stick there as evidence. It was at around 3 AM

I had this experience when I was young in kenya. It's really terrible, they kept terrorizing us for hours. It felt supernatural. But watching now, it's hilarious to see them in action. They are mentally ill or Just spiteful and find joy in terrorizing people. Or maybe it's sometimes a ritual 😂

When you get joy from terrorising people you've passed the line of sanity, in my opinion.

This is one of the stupidest and most immature things I have seen in a documentary. And I will bet not a one of them works or has jobs during the day because they are out all night terrorizing their neighbors. I hope they all get caught and punished.

A very good documentary. More documentaries need to be produced pertaining this matter.. I like the finishing statement that it is a thrill seeking behaviour. And do you know that thrill seeking/ adrenaline junky can be addictive, also a family tradition (not community), and a psychological disorder

I initially made an insensitive comment without fully watching the documentary. After watching I can see why this is both a nuisance to neighbors and a burden on those practicing it. The testament of the medical doctor sheds more light. I hope BBC will investigate this more to solve this problem. Some cultures are best left in the archives especially when they are both addictive and a threat to life.
